Das ganze war eindeutig ein Coverkauf für mich. Die Aufmachung mit diesem Rundum-Umschlag, dem Fotodruck und allgemein dem Bild, hat mich einfach so gecatched.
Das der Inhalt sehr butal werden würde, wusste ich bereits aus verschiedenen Reviews. Auch das er teilweise schon zu heftig und makaber sein würde. So gewarnt, konnte ich den Manga aber überraschend genießen. Ich fand diese postapokalyptischen Welt mit Fantasyspekten sehr spannend und mitreißend. Auf die vielen Anspielungen auf Pädophilie hätte ich aber sehr gut verzichten können und ich hoffe sehr, dass dies kein größeres Thema in der Reihe wird.
Der Hauptprotagonist ist mir sehr sympathisch und ich fieberte mit ihm mit. Ich hoffe er bekommt seine Rache und bin gespannt, wie es dann weiter gehen wird. Auch einige Nebencharaktere fand ich super interessant. Das Ende war sehr verwirrend und ich bin froh schon Band 2 hier zu haben.
Der Zeichenstil gefällt mir sehr. Er wirkt gar nicht so typisch Manga-mäßig und ich liebe die Gestik, Mimik und auch die Hintergründe. Alles in allem hat der Manga mich positiv überrascht.

Randomly found Fire Punch, because I was trying to start reading Chainsaw Man and I accidentally started reading this instead without realizing it and holy guacamole what the hell did I find?
I could not stop reading. I love how weird and fucked up all of it is. The story is kinda crazy and the art is amazing and straight up gorgeous in some panels. The covers of the 8 volumes are beautiful on their own already. Tatsuki Fujimoto is amazing, I wish I had known about this guy earlier.
I already finished reading this whole manga, even though this is technically just the first volume here. I intend to slowly buy all the other 7 volumes over time in the future, as I only own the first one for now.
I also read another, shorter, one-shot story by him, "Goodbye, Eri". Also amazing. His writing, his characters and his way of telling a story is so unlike anyone else I've seen or read, which makes me love it so much. Fire Punch Volume 1 barely introduces the character of Togata at the end, but she is one of my absolute favourite things about Fire Punch. And in this manga it's through her that Fujimoto puts forth his love for cinema and movies. His love for filming, movies and stories is very much present is a lot of his other works as well, which I also very much like.
