I enjoyed this story. I'd never read norse mythology before, so I don't think I can fully appreciate everything that's happening and if the story is accurate, but I found this book very interesting. I also think that the relationship between the main characters does a good job of being sweet, but still showing how strong characters are. It doesn't just show us a strong male and a whimpering female. This makes for a good beginning to the saga.

I love books about mythology and I found this series one day when I was browsing the realeses under the genre. I was a bit reluctant to start because the synopsis was too telling for my taste. I don't really like when I can get to know basicly the whole story beforehand. So the other day I got over myself and started it.

The plot and the mythologycal elements of the book was actually quite interesting and enjoyable and it had a couple of original ideas, too. Sure there was some samll similarities with other popular young adult trilogy, but not too much so it wasn't annoying, yet. My main problem was that some of the scenes and interactions in the book felt forced, staged and sometimes a bit childish. Mainly when there was supposed to be a bit flirting. Fortunately, eventually these parts faded out and the story became a bit more natural.
The author built up quite an interesting settings for her book and it was really well constructed. The flow of the story was really good if sometimes a bit erratic, but not confusing.

I loved the characters they weren't perfect even so they were supposed to be gods. Kristia had a hard life in a remote little town where she her ability was a known fact, and I think she made it harder for herself when she titled herself crazy. She wa shy in the beginning but during the book she developed a comletly different personality. A more determined and brave one but still a bit childish. It was good to see her 'bloom'.
Ull was a real gentleman, who treated Kristia quite good, of course just after the hard and challenging start where he tried to be act as a hard edged and unattainable person. He was a Norse god but we didn't get to see that side of him, yet. Hopefully in the next book.
I liked the secondary characters too. They all had a uniqe personality and they played a major role in Kristia personality change, but I don't think they gonna have a bigger role in the whole Ragnarok story line. Who knows. I also loved Ull immediate family however the only appeared at the very late stage of the story.

First I was going to give the book a lower rating but in the end things really heated up and there was a bit more action too. I hope later we get a deeper picture of the mythologycal line I missed that. Oh, and I think that the identity of the bad gus was really obvious but nobody seen it. I can't wait for the second book.

Amei.

Really great premise for the story, but it fell a bit flat. The main characters acted very similarly to the way the main characters in Twilight. Overall, the story was quick and cute, but I felt it could have been a lot more in-depth and interesting.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Although it was of course just stopping before it got really exciting and the relationship happened a bit too fast for me to understand it.

I really wanted to love this? I went into this because I'm super interested in Norse mythology (read: Thor and the Marvel movies), and it started off really promising, and just got tiring as it went on. The main character, Kristia, is sort of one note when she could've been so much more. I wanted to love her, too! She's cute, she's ballsy, she has powers! But she seemingly has no interests outside of Norse mythology, all her initial interests (art???), sort of went straight out of the window the minute Ull came into the story. She also didn't have a single conversation with her friends that wasn't about boys. And I'm guessing Victoria and Emma won't feature in the other books, given that they too seemed to go out the window as soon as Inga, Kristia's cool Norse goddess friend stepped in. They reminded me a lot of Bella and Alice from the Twilight series, actually. The initial romance was cute in places but unbelievably rushed? I kind of just ended up rushing through the ending. I loved the premise of this but it really fell flat for me.

Interesting (with moments of ugh), but not enough to get me reading the rest of the story.

Some things about me that could be considered as interesting, and relate to this book and my review of it:

- I love me some Mythology, especially Norse Mythology.
- Scandinavian guys, especially of the blonde variety, happen to be my favourite kind (I’m looking at you, Skarsgård family)
- Thor is my favourite Norse God/Marvel Superhero (Technically he’s tied with Black Widow – but don’t you make me pick!)
- Vikings happens to be my favourite tv show right now. Going slightly off topic but, it IS fantastic, and you should watch it. Yes, you.
- The above facts about me, combined with my growing interest in the new adult genre, and the additional facts that this cover is pretty, and it was cheap on Kindle, convinced me I needed to read this book. It must have been the will of the Gods, what else can I tell you?

This trilogy starter follows a girl called Kristia Tostenson. She’s a quiet , but not entirely normal girl (she has visions) and is growing up in the relatively small, and arguably dull, American city of Nehalem, Oregon. Although bored of her life, she isn’t really the adventurous sort. Enrolled at a college she’s not really feeling, she’s simply going through the motions, as it’s likely she will just end up working for her parents in their antique store. Despite this, she’s not very close to her parents and was far closer to her Mormor (her grandmother), who has passed before the novel starts. Best friend Ardis (great name!), helps to convince her to get out of her comfort zone and transfer to Cardiff University in Wales to carry out the rest of her studies. It’s all very sudden, you just have to go with it.

A couple months later Kristia finds herself in London on a pit stop, sightseeing and visiting a couple museums, before travelling to her new life in Wales. At the British Museum, she’s looking at a display about Odin and Norse Mythology when she becomes aware of a dashing blonde stranger staring daggers at her. He’s very rude and she tries to forget about him. Imagine her surprise a week or so later at seeing him turn up in her Mythology class.

I’ll be honest – at this point, it starts to feel very Twilighty up in here. Gorgeous and brooding Ull Myhr, who at first tries to avoid Kristia, and has a deep dark secret, realises he can’t keep away as he is inexplicably drawn to her. Kristia is confused by his inital behaviour around her, but doesn’t want him to stay away, as she too is drawn to him, and long story short – they end up falling head over heels in love with each other.

Kristia seems to accept very quickly *SPOILER ALERT*… that Ull Mhyr is an actual Norse God, and stepson of the mighty Thor none the less.

I can’t say that this book was a poignant or life changing read. But it was an easy read, it was light, fun, and who can resist a little fantasy driven romance from time to time? The characters were mostly likeable, and I feel that it was a good series starter because there was a lot of foundation story to prepare for the more action driven plots of the following novels (at least that’s how I’m hoping they will be!) I will be continuing on with the series, at least for the second book, and I hope its even more jam packed with mythical Nordic goodness.
