There were a lot of quirky and original ideas in this book (especially the typography, although there was one chapter I completely left out bc it was too difficult/annoying to read bc of how it was arranged). However, I feel like the more and more I got to the end, the more anxious I was for it to end. Things stopped making sense, the character got less and less likeable and the end was so unnecessarily perverted and disgusting (like, I'm not a prude, it just seemed like the author didn't know what else to put in so he just went with a lot of sex/rape bc why not), I was thankful for it to be over.

I reviewed this book before I had a system that probably would've been a little kinder on it, but it was the first book I was genuinely mad I had spent time on so I'll leave the 1 star in honour of that sentiment.

Definitely on my top 5, the element of surprise is given so naturally you just do not expect neither the novel to develop like this nor to end like this. Brilliantly written.

It’s not often I really do like a book but I just didn’t get on with this one. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters which makes a book harder to continue reading. There’s a plot twist of someone being raped by a seal which is hardly realistic. I read half of the book ages ago and then left it because I didn’t like it but decided to continue reading it a couple of years later because I’d already invested my time into it and I honestly wish I hadn’t. The final part of the book has left me scarred and uneasy ever since!

Really enjoyed this book. Found the main character embodied an early Fleabag or “I Hate Suzie” troubled woman that was enaging. Situations were funny and definitely dark. The way the story developed, while insane, I thought was still consistant with the tone. Ending was also excellently done.

Fully an extra star for the gusto and gumption of the gimmick - otherwise, the book is sort of disappointing and whatever. The whole thing never quite gets off the ground, even though Kimberly's twisted story is entertaining enough and there's admittedly a good dose of "wtf" hilarity (rapist seals, that's all I'll say). Instead, it felt very much like a novel written out of an idea for a gimmick as opposed to a novel that then led into said gimmick. Not a bad thing, per se, but it doesn't do a lot to recommend it.

3/5 - Overall I liked the concept behind this book and the creativity that it displayed however I found the first half especially to be quite slow paced with no real plot line or direction and the last part I found to be difficult to read and disturbing. It is definitely not for the faint hearted and I would not recommend if you are looking for a more light-hearted contemporary but if you like books that push the boundaries and do not conform to the norms of book structure you may want to pick this one up.

Pretty much a DNF book. I started off this book thinking it was going to be absolutely brilliant, and it was.. for about 2 chapters. I thought the premise behind it was interesting, and the blurb had me hooked to read it, but I just didn't like it. There was a bit sort of in the middle where you do a 'choose your own ending' type thing, and I just chose the page closest to the end of the book so I could finish reading sooner. I think you may have had to roll a dice or something. Though the part I skipped to was confusing as well because she was in hell (like actual hell), being tortured or something which I just found too creepy.

This book seemed slightly messed up, and not in the way I could tolerate. I hated the amount of characters I had to try and keep up with, I hated the reason as to why her boyfriend killed himself, and to be honest I really hated Kimberley too. I can't get into a book if I don't like the main character, and she seemed like an antagonist, which is fine except there was no protagonist.

I've given it two stars only because I liked the first little part of this book, but after that it was just too crude and bizarre. I think this is the weirdest book I've ever tried to read.

Dark, crude and interesting. This book has a dark theme which is heavily twisted with dry humour and ultimate self-discovery by Kimberley. She is a very peculiar woman with a wicked plan that goes terribly wrong, due to her blatant immaturity and stupidity. She tries to rid herself of guilt once the unthinkable happens which only ends up torturing her further. This book makes you wince, laugh and want to scream at Kimberely... often within one paragraph. The alternate endings were a nice touch, they added something unique to the book and almost hinted at the multiple sides of this crazy girl's personality. Definitely a good read! It didn't get 5*s because personally I would've enjoyed a bit more world building and dark adventure, but for the type of book it is.... it's a great read!
