I do think it’s very interesting to read things through a different perspective, it’s obviously not meant to appeal to the audience. Memorable read for sure, it’s uncomfortable but that’s what the author is.

I did not like this book. I was so excited to read it and then was so disappointed by the plot and the characters. I am pleased that the main character got what he deserved but even the 151 pages were hard to get through.

The book is a disturbing but strangely absorbing exploration of a deeply proud yet evil narrator. The protagonist is emotionally cruel and self-aware, yet takes utter price in this and presents us with a raw, confessional-booth style that captivates the reader. It creates this sense of morbid curiosity, where you grab your head in disbelief yet you can’t look away. Not because you admire the character, but because you want to understand, what drives this hollow shell of a human.

What makes the experience and book itself increasingly concerning to read, is the author’s anonymity. Without a name attached, there becomes a point where it’s to separate the narrator from the writer. It becomes less like fiction and more like a personal confession — as if the author might actually take pride in the harmful behaviour described. That blurred line between storytelling and self-exposure raises interesting questions about self-accountability, performance, and the appeal of cruelty in modern literature.

Many hate this book, but I can bet you they didn’t want to stop reading. At the end of the day, we’re all sick in the head it’s just about how you approach it.

Reminded me of 'Exciting Times' by Naoise Dolan, in which nothing breathtaking took place but the book still kept me somewhat intrigued to finish reading in a few days. The main character is a narcissistic POS and the book's ending went right over my head.

The song 'When Will it End' by Birth Day also came to mind whilst reading this book.

This book was one of the most challenging books I’ve ever read. Not only did it cut deep with its themes of heartbreak, betrayal, and self destruction, but the style of writing made it feel like a stream of my own consciousness. Best believe I immediately added the next two books to my Amazon cart.

The book is more enjoyable when he stops trying to explain any of his thoughts, which I guess is antithetical to the "diary” format of the story.
He slogs on for the first chap about his "conquests” of women’s hearts and the ways in which he damaged them in an attempt to seem reflective over his destructive and alcoholic past, but he (who presumably is writing all of this in one go) still speaks as if he is proud of these actions in some way. The climax of the story happens five pages from the end after being repeatedly mentioned and referenced throughout the first 100 pages and is wholly unsatisfying because the perspective we see it from has no clue what is happening in any sense.

This is a man who knows he deserves everything that happened to him and still refuses to leave it alone.
