This book held my attention and I couldn’t put it down! Great story line and female leads

My absolute favorite of her three books and I really enjoyed learning about both the hurricane of 1935 but also the work camps for the veterans returning home from the First World War. Both topics I admittedly knew nothing about. Loved this one.

Wow I loved this story. Enjoyed all three characters, their stories, and how their lives intersected. Had me interested the entire time. I think my favorite book by this author yet!

This was a good book. The three stories woven together through this crazy hurricane and so much craziness.

All 3 main characters shared a similar "damsel in distress meets mysterious older gentleman" storyline, which didn't do much for me or the book... Somewhat entertaining, nonetheless.

I loved this book! A great way to finish off 2020. A fantastic historical fiction story set during a devastating hurricane that hit the Keys in 1935. Chanel Cleeton does a masterful job writing the story of three strong women who are not only trying to survive the hurricane, but are trying to take charge of their own lives. I love how each chapter is told from a different women’s perspective. This book was very fast paced and hard to put down.

This is a quick read. It gets points for teaching me some things from history I did not know about. The vets used as labor, the horror of what happened to them during the hurricane. Googling that led me to reading about the Bonus Army. Any books that teaches me a bit more is a good one, even though I wish the book had spoken a bit more about the vets and the camps.

More like 3.5 stars. I wanted to like it!!!
The premise is good and the story is intriguing, I just didn’t connect.

I read this for a book club. I am giving it 3 stars as I learned about a bad hurricane in the keys in 1935 and that many wwi vets were killed. The bonus army had been moved down there to get them out of Washington. Turns out all that part is true. I want to read more about that. Not really into the 3 sets of people in the book itself. It was neat how the author got them all woven together, but just not my kind of book. Three stars for giving me something to research in the future
