Not going to lie, I fully picked this up because I saw someone on bookstagram post a picture of it and had been looking for a book on nature. Fully just because of the beautiful cover… but this book was freaking amazing. I loved the format that this author used for the story. I felt like I was on a journey through their life and getting to learn so much about nature along the way was so wonderful. My book is like tabbed to the extreme; probably, it might be my most tabbed book. There was just so much I felt like I was learning about my special interest, but also just so much I felt I related to with the author. This might be one of my favorites this year.

Not exactly what I was expecting. I thought this was a scientific nonfiction book and instead was more of a memoir. Not bad overall, but I wanted to know more about nature and less about the author's journey to becoming a scientist.

I loved this! I recommend it highly for a beautiful, inclusive way of looking at the world. She covers gender, conservation, equity, colonialism and more, and it feels so cohesive.

I thought this would be more of a scientific read vs. the memoir that it was, but still an enjoyable read.
