This book was everything I wanted in the conclusion to the series. Audrey Rose totally redeemed herself after her idiocy in the last book. I really liked how the author tied in the events from the other books and showed where the killer popped up previously. This author always does a great job making the books feel historically accurate all while delivering a thrilling plot and characters I absolutely love and care about. It has been a long time since I have fallen in love with a character like I did with Cresswell in these books. Although I guessed the killer before the reveal, the suspense was still there and it didn’t detract from my enjoyment of the story one bit. I cannot recommend this series and this book highly enough.

The author did great research for this series, which I appreciate. But unfortunately, I only truly liked the first two books.
In Capturing the Devil, the main characters seemed more focused on getting married than catching a killer—like that’s the most urgent thing at 17.

Absolutely loved this series! While I feel like there could've been a bit more build-up and underlying clues throughout the series to hint towards the final killer, I adored Audrey Rose and Thomas and their adventures overall. Great ending novel!

I love Audrey and Thomas. But... This book was rubbish in so many ways! Things i didnt like
- Too much romance!!! It was soooo annyoing. I was following this series for mystery not mcs pinning against each other after every 2 chapters😐
- Speaking of mystery, there was NONE in this book. I knew he was the killer the moment he bumped into Audrey and Liza in Newyork. And when they went to Chicago, and the number of times Henry was mentioned by Millie, I was sure of it!
- The whole "i am betrothed to miss whitehall, my father won't let me marry you", plot was bs. In my opinion, it added nothing to the story. Just dragged it. And focused the plot from murders to family dramas!! And to solve that our audrey rose's grands happens to have an upper hand over thomas's father. How convenient!!
- SJTR is my fav from the series. (Though I was able to figure out who Ripper was in that book, still i loved it!!) But... This book just proved almost everything we knew about that book wrong. I think writer should have used some fresh plot and there was no reason to drag 1st book's plot in it. (I was okay with Nathaniel being the Ripper honestly!)
- What was our dear Audrey thinking while entering the devil's den without any backup plan?? She could have told someone where she was going. It was a reckless decision! (Especially coming from a brilliant scientist)
Now, there are a few things i liked
- Some quotes
- Audrey's grandmother's character. Though we got little to see of her
My ranking of the series is the same as the order the books came out. Jack the ripper being my most fav, followed by Hunting Prince Dracula Houdini and Capturing the Devil being my least favourite from the series!
And I am not sad to see the characters go. This book kinda ruined it for me :)
