The plot twist halfway through was gut wrenchingly well timed. Everyone who’s ever had their heart crushed can sympathize with this one.
There were a few clues that were obvious to the reader on who the career murder truly was but overall show down with Jack the Ripper seemed well timed and the merging of history with theory was fantastic. A fitting end to the series.

Sad to see this series end! I’m glad I waited for these all to be released so I could binge read them bc I don’t think my heart could’ve stood waiting for each release. Phenomenal characters and a great continuing storyline thru each book.

En este último libro acompañaremos a Audrey Rose en sus andanzas por Estados Unidos en la época victoriana, persiguiendo a un asesino conocido como el Diablo de la ciudad blanca.
No entraré en muchos detalles sobre la trama para no hacer spoilers de los libros anteriores, pero os diré que esta última aventura me ha parecido el broche perfecto para la saga.
Esta vez vemos más entremezcladas la trama de investigación con las emociones y sentimientos de Audrey y eso convierte este libro en un sin vivir que te atrapa. Me he bebido esta historia porque, literalmente, necesitaba saber qué iba a pasar. Ha sido el típico "solo otro capítulo más" que se convirtió en devorar el libro.
Como siempre, me ha encantado Audrey Rose y en cada uno de los libros se nota la evolución en ella, cómo cada caso que ha resuelto le ha hecho crecer como persona y aclarar sus ideas.
Aunque debo decir que en este libro he adorado especialmente a su abuela, que me ha parecido maravillosa.
En cuanto a la trama de investigación, la he disfrutado muchísimo a pesar de que descubrí quién era el asesino antes de llegar al final.
Otra cosa a destacar es el relato que se incluye al final del libro, que nos adentra en los pensamientos y emociones de otro de los personajes y que me ha encantado. Me ha gustado mucho ver un suceso del tercer libro desde el punto de vista de este personaje.
En general, un cierre perfecto para una saga que he disfrutado de principio a fin, que incluye intriga, investigación, técnicas forenses detalladas (esto conviene saberlo si sois sensibles con este tema, la autora describe con detalle estas técnicas y la anatomía humana) y un desarrollo de personajes muy bien llevado, en el que todos evolucionan en mayor o menos medida, especialmente Audrey Rose.

THIS WAS SO GOOD, WAAAAH. It was such a good way to end the series and I'm so glad we FINALLY got our Cressworth ending.
That being said, the reveal of murderer was really underwhelming for me. That's really my only 'complaint' if you can call it that. The book was really good and UGH yes. Such a good ending.

I will never not love this book. Third time I’ve read it and the love I have for the characters keeps growing. Kerri Maniscalco gives us the conclusion we needed and craved, the end of an incredible story of a dark prince and his wicked princess.

While I do love Audrey Rose and Thomas’ relationship I was disappointed to find the first half of the book was primarily focused on their relationship drama rather than the murder mystery I was reading for. Otherwise, a really good read!
