I have to say, I did not see this book coming. This was one of those instances where I had to struggle to separate how well the story was told with my feelings about the events which took place.
What I liked about Double Fudge Brownie Murder:
The cases - Judge Colfax's murder and Moishe's exploits both kept me guessing right to the reveals. Of course, with Hannah feeling so clueless (and distracted), we didn't get much of a hint in any direction.
What I didn't care for:
It felt a little condescending - Yes, Hannah is known to be a bit of a know-it-all from time to time, but this time, the over-explanation wore a little thin as it surfaced again and again.
This didn't feel like Hannah - After 17 books getting to know our protagonist, her actions seemed so entirely out of character. I honestly don't even know what to do with the direction Hannah's personal life took in this book.
After all is said and done, I don't care for Hannah's decision in this book and it weighed heavily on my choice when it came to rating the book. The pages turned easily and I enjoyed the rest of the content, but I just cannot get on board with that final scene. I suppose that we'll see if I can make my peace with it going forward.

I chose to read this book because I was eagerly looking for an available audio book, saw this familiar author’s book from a series that I recognized but had not yet read, and decided to indulge. What a waste of time. The story begins as Hannah and her sisters are preparing for a trip to Vegas for their mother’s wedding. Hannah’s love life soon becomes the main story of the book. The murder was secondary and not introduced until the middle of the book. The plot was lame and the writing was so painfully detailed and outdated. The character had multiple lessons from her niece on cell phone usage when the only functionality she used was texting and calling, and didn’t know that incoming message alerts were audible and seemed startled when received. Was this written for an over 90 crowd? And the cat’s frequent meows on the audible were nothing but annoying.

Bah. There was only one redeeming feature about this book
I had hoped that Hannah's trial would have been the refresher that the series so desperately needed
I also am tempted to go back and re-read the first book again to see if the writing was this bad - everything was laid out and explained and re-explained multiple times as if the readers are idiots. I was considerate of the fact that this series started in the early 2000s, though this one was published in 2015. :/

Totally unrealistic on so many levels and little development of the mystery. However, the recipes and vivid descriptions of food throughout the book almost make up for it!
