The beginning was alright. Saw who the killer was early. Not her best. I found myself skimming parts. I knew she'd pick Ross over mike and Norman

Oh dear, this is definitely between a 1-2 ⭐️ read - so disappointed! I love this cosy mystery murder series, mixed with baking recipes, but this one (#18 in the series) is pretty poor to say the least. There's less murder mystery more random romance and painful plot lines throughout. One is about Hannah upgrading to a smartphone and learning how to text, oooft, appalling story telling. I think this only gets 2⭐️ because I came out the other end wanting to bake some of the cookie recipes.

I know I don't read this series for great literature, but come on. The majority of the book went as follows:
- Hannah wakes up from a weird dream about food. Oh no, she slept in. Nope, Michelle (who should be in college) has turned off her alarm. And made breakfast! And now Hannah doesn't have to go to work because Lisa has it under control. Then we bake cookies. Then we have dinner, oh look it's Mike because we're eating. The cats are here, so "feet up". And during most of that day, discuss all the possible variations for all the food that we are eating. I know the recipes are part of the book's branding my but it was so over the top here.
As for relationships, it's never been realistic that Mike and Norman and Hannah can all get along as one happy family, but now there is a third person invited to dinner too? Not buying it.
On the plus side, it only took a couple hours to read!

I truly love fluffy, cozy mysteries, and this series has been one of my favorites- but even I have to draw the line somewhere. 0/10 would not recommend, even to the fluffiest culinary-mystery lovers.

It was ok, some good recipes.

Hannah discovers another body and works to solve the murder. More cookies, more recipes, more romance. Yes, romance. Delores and Doc get married and Hannah gets engaged. Lots of champagne flowing. Enough spoilers... just read the book already!
The audiobook was well done, but it was kind of weird having someone read the recipes to me. I usually skim over those when I read the books. I will put my hard copy on my cookbook shelf now. I hope to try out some of the recipes soon. The strawberry muffins and cranberry biscuits sounded wonderful... any of course, double fudge brownies... who could resist those?

I really liked the direction this one took!

Another great installment in the series. Ms. Fluke actually kept me guessing about the killer until right up to the end. I loved getting to spend more time with Hannah and her friends, and really loved seeing Hannah finally fall in love. Such a great story!

Sadly this was a heteronormative and unsexy mess, and the recipes did not sound very good either.
