For the love of all things holy, don't read this book if you're somewhere that crying is socially unacceptable. This book started a little slow for me but around my first near sob attack at page 190, things sped up. Worth the read and definitely one of my new favorites.

Lara Avery weaves a beautiful story of an overachiever, intelligent and efficient Sammie McCoy, who suffers from a rare disease that resembles early dementia. Determined to live a normal life and to achieve her dreams of being a lawyer, Sammie strives on to be the best in everything - to maintain her status as valedictorian and to triumph in the debate team at the Nationals. But Sammie soon realises that her disease comes with many repercussions, and try as she might, she will have to face the prospect of a shattered dream. So Sammie fashions a memory book, trying to remind Future Sammie about the wonders of her own adventures. Along the way, Sammie learns to appreciate the life that she has, to treasure her memories with the people she loves. Poignant and bittersweet, this is a remarkably beautiful story of recovering what you might just lose, and learning to accept the life that has been set for you.

I had a very hard time getting into this book for the first half. The book started as more of a "journal" aspect and then it switched to first person in a very choppy format. Yes, it was sad at times, but I wasn't completely torn by it.

Obviously I'm in the minority for reviews on this book...I wanted to like this...I really did and actually felt guilty at the end that I didn't like it more. It just seemed parts of it were way to drawn out to where I found myself skimming the page and then other parts were way too rushed.
