I thought I would like this dark romance, but unfortunately I did not. A positive was definitely that it was fast paced. I was never bored and I was compelled the know what was going to happen next. The underground plot that was happening was interesting to learn about and to see unfold. Those are basically the only good things about this book.

I didn’t like either main character. I didn’t like any of the side characters. I didn’t like how the only character with a modicum of sense was the one locked up in an institution.

There were also way too many sex scenes. I know it’s a romance, but it was constant, and in both the past and present time line. On top of there being too many, I didn’t like the way they were written. They were repetitive and they kind of made me cringe.

My biggest problem was the miscommunication though. He NEVER lets her tell him her side of the story. It’s infuriating. Stacey also doesn’t tell him something very important going on at home that is traumatic. The miscommunication is extremely immature.

I’m disappointed in this one because I thought the plot would be enough to be interesting, but I will not be continuing this trilogy.

FUCK ARCHIE, BERNADETTE AND CHRIS. That’s all. 💜

DID NOT FINISH: 20%

I wanted to enjoy this. But I can't get invested in a story so reliant on the miscommunication & misunderstanding tropes.

This is a very Wattpad-esque story. The hypersexuality with zero buildup. The scumbag male cast. The nonsensical push-pull relationships. All the way to Kade's secret crimelord timeline. None of it is plausible to me.

Timeline aside, how is Kade this criminal mastermind stalking Stacey but he's clueless about
her sexually abusive stepbrother

This just isn't for me.  Headscratchers and cringe aside. A lot of the dark subject matter feels thrown in for shock value.

One of the most heartbreaking books I’ve ever fucking read, so much so that I almost put it down and had to take a break. PLEASE make sure you read the trigger warnings and proceed with caution. Even WITH these warnings this series was so insanely good and heart wrenching. I literally could not put it down. I read the whole series in 3 days.

This book was was an emotional rollercoaster. I almost didn't finish it because of the unrealistic drama and then it hooked me in. Even so, it was a bit much at times.
