This book is great for people who want to get into art, and never went to school for it. I don’t think this book is helpful for active artists.
A lot of the interviews show similar themes about finding your artistic voice: practice, practice, don’t fear just do, put out the crappy work so you can get to the good stuff.

I read other reviews to see what I was missing—my best guess is that I'm not creative enough. I enjoyed about a quarter of Find Your Artistic Voice but felt the rest was repetitive, maybe a longform article's worth of content padded with interviews and redundancies then stretched into a book. I did like the exploration of the "elements of style," though.

This was a nice pep talk going into the new year. The advice is gently offered along with interviews with other artists to help encourage the reader that the creative process is hard AND rewarding.

I think it’d be a good book for any visual artist, writer, creative, creator, maker, or any sort of someone going through an existential crises. The wisdom provided felt like good advice for anyone wanting to fully experience and enjoy life and a career of one’s own design.

The font size and thickness could have been reconsidered. I didn’t feel the importance of the writer’s words didn’t feel honored by the font choice.

I recommend for anyone needing a quick creative pep talk and will re-read again next time I’m in a lull. I’m putting it on my “Add to personal library” list.

Awesome book for creatives!

This was a great book because of the approachable language and ideas surrounding creativity. The text invited creatives to pivot and examine the world around them looking for renewed inspiration or to discover inspiration all together. The interviews were helpful in examining creative and developing creative habits. Congdon’s artwork is beautiful on the page and enhances the ideas shared with the reader. Read this book!

Some of the concepts may seem basic (like practicing, looking at different art, varying your approach), but Lisa presents them thoughtfully and bring new light to them.

I loved all the real world interviews, it was so helpful to see the different views of all these excellent artists.

Another reviewer said that the book has podcast vibes, and I do agree. It makes the book very approachable and conversational.

I picked up a bunch of helpful tips from this book, it's a fast read and I recommend it!

A very interesting and conversational approach to tackling the subject. I enjoyed the real lives examples from many of those interviewed. It reads a lot like a podcast would flow.
