Sometimes you know you're going to love a book before you even open it up, and that was exactly the case for me with Crown of Earth and Sky. Fae, fantasy, romance, mystery, prophecies, darkness and elements of Arthurian Mythology? Check, check, check to all of it. The ingredients are beautifully woven together to create a fantastic story that kept my interest from start to finish.
The MFC, Veyka, is fierce but comes across at first as deeply flawed. As the story goes on however, we receive glimpses into her past which gives an understanding as to why she is the way she is. She grows significantly throughout the book, from a seemingly disinterested monarch who has been thrust onto the throne in the wake of her brother's death to a true Queen in her own right.
As for the MMC Arran, aka The Brutal Prince, he is a true King from the start. Despite having been handed the role just as unexpectedly as Veyka, he is immediately determined to do what is right for his new Kingdom. Just as fierce as Veyka, which is only to be expected from his moniker, his strength and power are clear to see from the start, as is his high regard for duty, which initially puts him at odds with his reluctant new Queen.
Complete with some great worldbuilding and a host of interesting side characters who I would love to know more about, including the would-be-Queen Gwen, I found this a fantastic start to a new series and I can't wait to read the sequel when that comes out.

Excellent read. Very spice heavy/romance forward but a lot of great world building
4.25 ⭐️
I really liked Crown of Earth and Sky. This series is only the second Arthurian retelling I’ve read, and I’m finding I really enjoy Arthurian stories! I simply could not put this book down.
The world building was well done while still being easy to follow, and I loved the characters. Veyka and Arran were great, and I loved their chemistry. I also really loved the side characters, particularly Parys. There was just something about him that was incredibly endearing.
There was more spice than I was expecting for book one of a series, and for the most part, the spice was well done. I do hope that the following books focus a little less on describing Veyka’s body. It just felt like there were a lot of mentions about her breasts and whatnot when there didn’t need to be. Arran is down bad though, so I can’t blame him too much for it.
I’m excited to dive right in to book two, Throne of Air and Darkness, tomorrow. Crown of Earth and Sky was a really strong start to a series, and the ending left me eager for more!
Thank you so much to Emberly Ash and NetGalley for the ARC of Crown of Earth and Sky. All opinions are my own.
Set in a fae realm inspired by the legend of King Arthur, Crown of Earth and Sky is the first in a romantasy series filled with magic, mystery, revenge, and prophecy. Veyka Pendragon, twin sister of Arthur, finds herself suddenly thrust into the court of the elemental fae after her brother is killed in a plot against the kingdom. Now bethrothed to Arran Earthborn, the strongest terrestrial fae, she must carefully guard her secrets while seeking revenge.
There was so much to love about this book. The political intrigue. The enemies to lovers to [redacted] plot (No spoilers! You have to read it). The fae (I like the shifters of the terrestrial kingdom the best). The mystery surrounding Veyka. The shadowy, dark threats against Annwyn.
The book is a bit on the long side. I do think there were slow parts that could have been trimmed to keep the plot from lagging. But overall, I ate this book up. I'm excited to dive into the next book, particularly after that cliffhanger.

I really hate being the person who writes a less than raving review, because I know authors work so hard to tell their stories. I always try to be as positive as I can, so here goes. This book had SO much potential. It’s a retelling of King Arthur in the most badas* female way. Unfortunately it just didn’t land for me. The plot was great. I kept reading because I needed to know what was going to happen. The characters felt fully fleshed out, they dealt with trauma, and the love story was even sweet. I enjoyed the spicy scenes for the most part as well, and there were quite a few! BUT and this is a big but, to get through the story we had to hear about her ample curves, hips, and breasts a lot. We all love a curvy queen, but we don’t need to hear about it every other page. There were also an abundance of typos, I usually look past these fairly easy, there were just a lot. All in all I will continue to read the series because I need to know the ending. I just can’t see myself recommending this to anyone because it seemed to get on my nerves a lot.
wooooow, okay Veyka
I’m not going to lie- I’ve been putting off this book as long as possible just because not all four books were out yet, but I couldn’t wait any longer.
GET READY FOR THE RIDE.
I really enjoyed this book - the world building, the mystery, the character development. At first, Veyka pendragon came off as this self-centered/selfish young woman hellbent on revenge. Her character development was fantastic. I can’t wait to dive into the next book.
Definitely add this one to your TBR!

This is such a good start to the series, I really enjoyed it and it pulled me in quite quickly. The main downside was how selfish she was, that really wound me up. I understood she was grieving and sad, then needed revenge. But still, she pissed me off thoroughly.
