The narration almost got this up to a 4* rating, but it wasn't enough, I'm afraid.
The romance is sweet. Lord and Lady Winters fall for Amelia quickly and there is a lot of tenderness in their relationship.
Unfortunately, it's not quite my cup of tea.
Spoiler CW for forced marriage, rape and pregnancy.
I do give it props for not shying away from that plotline and Amelia does get rescued by her lovers. I'm not a fan with the emphasis on pregnancy and that's pretty much half the book.

Polyamorous, Fae-ish, fated mates - need I say more? This was so surprisingly good, I just couldn't put it down! This book includes lots of great stuff beyond just the romance too, like: found family, lots of unique 'pets' (I'm a sucker for animals included in books), and various magical powers.

Fair warning on a couple of things though that did bother me but are spoilers:
Spoiler- there is on page rape scenes (not extremely graphic, but still)
- the nicknames for the main character by the love interests gave me the ick mainly because of the characters age differences

Great world and interesting story

I was hesitant between a 3 stars or a 4 stars for this book. The beginning was captivating, and the last third of the book was action packed and sucked me in. However, between around 35% to 60%, the pace slowed considerably, nothing much was happening, and I got a bit bored. I feel like this section of the story could have been way shorter.

What I liked about the book:
- The world, well developed with intricate and interesting details.
- The characters: we get to know a lot of characters in this book, but they were all interesting, endearing for the ones that were meant to be that way, and contributed to the story.
- The found family feeling; the dynamic between the group of friends was funny and heartwarming.
- The action and the suffering the characters go through. There were real things put at risk in the plot, and I appreciated that. Even though I didn't emotionnaly connect with certain aspects, I did connect with the FMC's suffering.
- The diversity: loved to read about a polyamourous relationship and loved that we weren't in a heteronormativity type of story.

What left me wanting more:
- The romance didn't touch me deeply like I like it to. I was missing in the connection and didn't feel the love somehow.
- The longer part in the middle where nothing much happened.
- The type of narration chosen: it's a multi-pov story, but the narrator is outside the head of the characters (omnipotent) and seems to switch from one character to the other within one scene, which makes it hard to follow what's happening sometimes because we don't see the action through one specific set of eyes. (Story told in 3rd person.)
- Two tropes in specific, that I can't specify without spoiling some pivotal moments in the story, but these tropes always make me angry because they never make sense to me and seem avoidable.

If you like a fantasy story, magic and creatures, with many characters, high things at stake, dark elements (please check trigger warnings), a bit of spice and romance, this might be the one for you.

So overall, great elements in this book, with some others I would change.

I enjoyed this book. In some places the writing wasn't perfect, and the formatting of the ebook definitely threw me off on occasion - I was reading it on my phone kindle app so maybe that contributed.

Really like the world that has been built as well as the cast of characters. I definitely want to know more about the world and places in it - love the concept/world history.

There are moments that readers may find distressing/triggering. Warning, there is a pregnancy trope, which usually I dislike, but weirdly didn't in this book.

The romance was unexpected for me, not in that I didn't see it coming but the type of romance
this was my first poly romance book and it was good
.

Just an overall enjoyable book.
