I claim that this book is officially laced with crack! It's so addictive it was hard to put down!! Such an epic read, well written world building, character building is phenomenal! You love characters, you absolutely hate other characters, there's magical element's, spice, slow burning heated tension, war, found families, magical creatures, polyamory, fated mates, bad ass female energy, did I mention spice!!
After finishing reading this book, I really had to stop and gather my thoughts. This book I actually listen to as an audiobook, and as I was driving, there were many times where I was screaming at no one in general, or like laughing really hard or had a giant smile on my face because I was so giddy about where the story was turning. This slow burn had me reeling for more. There were so many instances where I thought that this story was going to go one way and it went another. There was a good mix of shocking turn of events mixed with plenty of HEA ideas. (And I say ideas bc C.C. Davie could upturn it all in the next book and I wouldn’t know it yet..!) Once again, I have started a series, not knowing that the second book has not been released and so I am left sitting on my couch, dazed and confused, wanting to know where the epilogue is going to take us into the second book, and how things are going to work out for the characters. This story is a LGBTQ and Poly romance. I consider this Debut novel for Davie a success and look forward to her next releases!
I’d say a 2.5 only because they took a while to get down to the nitty gritty. Knowing there are multiple books in the series has me questioning just how many times I’ll be asking wtf and why.
