FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck is working a case involving the abuse of 5 yr old Emily when her best friend & roommate goes missing. Kendall teams up with Denver detective Adam Taylor to find out what happened to her. So there’s 2 ongoing investigations in the book, with 2 POV’s (Kendall & Adam). I really liked these characters! I wasn’t as impressed with the mysteries in the book but overall it was an enjoyable listen. I’d love to read more & have hopes this will develop into a series. I definitely recommend to crime fiction fans!

Thanks so much to NetGalley, Leanne Kale Sparks & Dreamscape Media for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I also thought it was slow. I'm not sure what it was. I usually love thrillers and why wouldn't I love a strong female protagonist. But I had to force myself to keep reading, nothing was pulling me in. The end was the most interesting part.

"The only survivor of Denver's notorious "Reaper" serial murders, FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck grapples with the ghosts of her past by seeking justice for victims of abuse. She's neck-deep in a particularly ugly case involving the disappearance of five-year-old Emily Williams--but her investigation is derailed when her best friend and roommate, Gwen Tavich, turns up dead floating in a nearby lake."

A nice twisty psychological thriller that will keep you guessing. Well-written, with excellent narration.

Although I guessed pretty early on who The Reaper was, this book was pretty good in that the pace was fast enough to keep me interested and Kendall was a mostly likeable character. There were some loose threads, and little things added that left me with some questions and that makes me wonder if this is going to be a series. Overall though, this was one of the better books I've read in this genre, and it was a quick, enjoyable read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for gifting me this book in exchange for an honest review.

Kendell Beck, a FBI agent, is investigating a missing child case when her roommate goes missing, and is eventually found dead. These two cases bring back memories of her being the only survivor of the Denver "Reaper." As the three cases evolve it is clear that there is more to the situation than what meets the eye.

This book had its ups and downs. At times it was fast paced while at other times it was slow. The three cases wrap up nicely in the end. The title does give away a lot of the plot, but not enough to ruin the book. The narration of the audiobook was great! The narrator knew when to put different inflections in to keep the audience hooked.

I would like to thank NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for the electronic Advanced Reading Copy (eARC) in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I was hopeful for this book but disappointed. I guessed who did it within the first few chapters. It was a good story but also moved a little slow.

I enjoyed this first book in a new procedural series! The world building was very well done- the characters and setting were easy to connect with and follow. The set up lead to some twists along the way but everything flowed naturally. I’m looking forward to the second book, which I will listen to shortly!

This was a fast paced, police procedure thriller. I loved the short chapters. This was a great book. Hope to see more Kendall Beck books.
