David Copperfield is a semi autobiographical novel by Charles Dickens. With the themes of coming of age, love & marriage, social injustice and class difference, it's a complete novel and extremely entertaining. I personally found it entertaining but i don't think this really resonated with me, at times the story felt very stretched. But i still enjoyed reading it nevertheless. I remember reading Great expectations and how much i loved and enjoyed it and how much emotional it made me. This book also has a few of its moments which are very sad and emotional but it just couldn't deliver that intensity.
Now the book is based on Dicken's own life and some of the characters are inspired by people around him which makes it more interesting.

𝙈𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝘾𝙝𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝘿𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙙 𝘾𝙤𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙞𝙚𝙡𝙙:

🔸David Copperfield: the main character and the narrator based on Dickens himself. He's very simple and kind natured, has no malice for anyone. Goes through a very rough childhood but eventually finds some solace. He also seems to have weird mommy issues and falls for every older woman? 😭 anyways lmao.

🔸Clara Copperfield: David’s naive mother who falls for cunning Murdstone and loses all her authority over her life and his son and passes away.

🔸Peggotty: one of my fav characters in the book, she's a loyal servant and mother-figure to David and stays with him till the end. (marries Barkis)

🔸Mr. Peggotty: another fav character he's Peggotty’s brother and adopts emily and ham. i felt so bad for hom throughout the book. deserved sm much better.

🔸Emily : Mr. Peggotty’s niece. She's David's first love and childhood crush but she never quite loves David back. she's the heart of the tragedy in this book.

🔸 Ham Peggotty – Emily’s cousin and fiancé. kind hearted and loyal and even dies tragically. ceo of deserved better.

🔸James Steerforth – David’s best friend who turns out to be a scumbag anyways. i didn't understand his character tbh.

🔸Uriah Heep – manipulative, hypocrite and greedy prick.

🔸Agnes Wickfield – David’s companion growing up and eventually his wife. I like her character a lot. she's smart, resilient and kind.

🔸Dora Spenlow – David’s first wife, probably based on Dicken's own wife from whom he later separated. she's extremely childish and naive as he calls his child -wilf. dies sadly :(

🔸Betsey Trotwood – the diva of the novel. She's a fiercely independent woman and aunt of david who eventually adopts him and gives him a good life.

🔸Mr Dick: One of my fav characters. he's all fun and wholesome vibes but also emotionally intelligent and makes friends with everyone

🔸Mr. Micawber: Based on Dicken's own father, he's a comic figure always in financial trouble & debt but full of hope.

🔸Tommy Traddles – School friend of David, a bit silly but eventually becomes the best friend of David.
