I was excited to read this book because it's from Roxane Gay's press. The representation and thoughtful approach to relationships and difficult decisions to be made in a capitalist, racist, sexist, homophobic, and ableist world were insightful. However, I felt like the book wasn't fully plot or character driven. It was slow for me and didn't feel super interesting until like the last few chapters. I also didn't feel like I believed the romance between the characters. I wish it was more compelling!

Was very excited to read a sapphic romance with such diverse representation but honestly it was just kind of mid. I wasn’t super invested in the characters or the plot, neither was as compelling as I was hoping.

Come for the romance, stay for the thoughtful approach to living as ethically as possible in a racist, sexiest, capitalist world!

Okay, granted romance isn’t my preferred genre but I thought the sub-plot would help me power through. Maybe I blacked out when Parkie and Glory started liking each other seriously because I truly don’t remember nor see what they like about each other? Also is something going on with Glory’s aunts belongings or no? I feel like by page 200 we should have a better idea? But we don’t. I don’t know girl, also the pace was slow for me!
