this was such an amazing read for me. I really thought I would be disappointed by the slower pacing compared to the movies, but it ended up being the opposite. I loved everything about this book, especially the lore. I knew that Tolkien had built a rich and well thought out world with deep history and languages, but I didn’t realize how amazing his world building truly was until now.

10/10 true perfection

La descripción de los lugares y los contextos es demasiado extendida, y hace que el ritmo de la historia sea demasiado lento para mí.

Struggled a bit with this one being so slow. Don't think I'll be reading the whole trilogy.

I avoided reading these because I was afraid of the poems and extended imagery that I thought would make it difficult to get through. Skip the poems and don't feel bad about it. But this was wonderful! I really enjoyed every minute of it and couldn't put it down! The story is rich and engaging and I can't imagine how it must have felt to finish without having the second one handy to start. One line in particular stood out to me as a sort of personal lesson. Sam tells Frodo "Its the job that's never started as takes the longest to finish." And their conclusion from this is, well, let's get on to Mordor then! Its such a spirit and a motivation that I can learn from.
