After devouring [b:The Season of Secrets|203597159|The Season of Secrets|Q.B. Tyler|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1702319254l/203597159._SY75_.jpg|209389763] where I got my first ideas about the MCs in this story, I was ready to jump headfirst into this full length story.

For starters, THIS IS AN AGE GAP ROMANCE. I feel like that needs to be reiterated - this is a gap of about 20 years between our FMC (younger) and MMC so don't pick this up if that's too much for you (no judgement).

Also, the relatability of being a teenage girl who has a crush on a super-attractive older man tracks. I mean, it did for me anyway lol. For Avery, when the insanely attractive ex-NFL single dad moves in next door with kids around her age, she can't stop drooling over him. As she grows up alongside his kids and becomes best friends with his son, her attraction doesn't wane - and when she comes home from college looking like an adult with a bunch of rowdy college boys talking about her in his presence, suddenly he sees her as more than the teen he's had around his house for the last 8 years, too.

Their chemistry is CRACKLING and what starts as the typical "lets just hook up and get it out of our systems" turns into a very real "oh no, we've caught feelings and wtf are we going to do about it."

If you like:
- incredibly descriptive open-door scenes that are impromptu moments of opportunity, sneaking around under the noses of their respective families
- MMC opening up to someone for the first time since his cheating ex came clean and they divorced
- FMCs who *OWN*THEIR*SEXUAL*DESIRES*, like y'all - I cannot TELL you how refreshing it has been to read about a female main character who doesn't read as doe-eyed and innocent and just lets the MMC (accurately) guess what she needs..
.. read this book with a fan nearby so when you get overheated, you'll be able to calm down.

5/5 stars. 5/5 peppers.

I love that this author writes really fun, spicy, age gap and forbidden romances. Cannot believe I’m just now discovering her books. I’m here for it. I was really excited going into this book because I’d gotten a vibe from Theo and Avery in The Season of Secrets and was ready for their story. While I mostly enjoyed this I do wish it would not have jumped into the story like it did. The book starts out after they’ve already had a couple of intimate interactions. I think it would’ve been beneficial to give a flashback chapter with how they began. It’s mentioned but, very briefly. I just need all the details!

Not as good as her earlier novels. Frankly, I’m getting tired of the ex-boyfriend’s dad trope. Wish we could go back to the earlier novels of “Forget Me Not” or “Always Been You” and “Love Unexpected.”
