Oh yea, now I remember why I stopped reading Hamilton.
Won't be finishing this series. I have a feeling it'll be a waste of time once it progresses.

Overall a fun book. My main critiques is it felt sometimes like it could go a lot more detailed with the spicy sections and overall the descriptions of places and people could be improved to give a better visual image of the story and places.

Not good, but fun. Not much sex, either - that comes (literally) later.

Still pretty damn porny for not having huge amounts of sex.

DID NOT FINISH

Like I don't wanna waste anymore time on this book than I have reading it. Booring with a paper thin plot and AWFUL writing reasons for Merry to have sex with every male she gets introduced to. Also Merry is the most one dimensional character and not even her bleeding heart that makes her pity fuck every male she comes across helps her case.

But hey there were tentacles I guess....🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙

This was an odd book. There were parts that I really enjoyed, but the multiple sex scenes involving odd body parts (tentacles..?!!!), multiple body parts, etc were a little too much for me.

I don't see myself reading another in this series unless I can pick it up for free as well.

Our first book club pick of the year, I enjoyed A Kiss of Shadows overall, but it didn't quite hook me. Merry and the Queen were good characters, but I found the creatures and some of the visceral descriptions really gave me the ick. The plot felt thin, with lots of promise but little actual payoff in terms of story and steamy scenes. The world building was mixed, I found the court structure and creatures a bit confusing, but it being set in the USA and the use of guns really made me laugh.

I forgot how much sensuality and sex there are in these. Mismatch for current mood.

1st time through the series - January 2008
2nd time through the series = 2/24/12

I literally still don’t have a clue wtf was going on. Like how is this a 15 hour audiobook and yet I was confused for almost all of it.

There was so much talking and thinking and DESCRIBING that it was sickening. Literally nothing happened. Nothing of actual interest. There was so much potential.

I only kept reading cause it was a car wreck I couldn’t drag my eyes away from. I kept wondering how else could this book become more ridiculous. And I was shown that exact sentiment every single time.

I obviously won’t subject myself to physically reading anymore of these books but I will be looking up the plots of the rest of the novels to find out what kind of buffonary exist in the following books.

2 stars. It would’ve been one star but I liked Doyle sooo…
