I really enjoyed the first Merry book. I really loved the Anita Blake series so I decided to read the other series that Laurell had to offer. I was pleasantly pleased, I didn't know how I would feel about a faerie princess, but Merry was not a simple spoiled type that you would come to expect of someone with that title. She has honor and courage and even a good sense of humor.
I'm giving this a filler rating of 3 because I actually can't decide, subject to change.

It took a couple tries to get past the first several chapters. This was a very long book but a quick read once I got into it. It is very graphic in content, however, I look forward to reading more in this explicit series!

The book was good until the last quarter. The ending was anticlimactic and I expected a bit more from it. However, I still want to know what happens to Merry so I'll be reading the rest of the series!

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this author as she was new to me. I was pleasantly surprised.
I think there was a good balance of realistic situations with suspense, and supernatural beings slipping in as well. I will finish the series.
