I struggled to get through this a bit. I've decided I don't love books set in the midwest farmland bc there's little scenic interest there. More coming of age than the mystery I normally expect from Grisham
good picture painted, accurately captures the time/setting/era, but didn't enjoy the story.
Dari awal sampe akhir gak keliatan Sama sekali plot konfliknya di mana. For me this one is kind of boring book
Not a favorite of his... and I can generally count on giving him at least 3 stars just on principle. Not this time.
3.5 stars. A nice change of pace book for me. I never know what the climax of non fantasy books are because they just don't seem all that dramatic, but this one wasn't bad.
I was very interested in this book. However, I kept waiting for a big climatic event that never really came. Then it ended very abruptly. Feeling a little disappointed now that it's finished..
This is not the usual John Grisham fare, but instead is a beautiful story told with great warmth and compassion. I have always enjoyed Grisham's books as good airplane reads--but never expected that he would write a book that I would list as one of my all-time favorites.
I learnt a lots of things about the time and the lives of the people in that town. The hardworking people, the dangers they had to face, learnt more about the social norms and standards... it was an enlightening and emotional experience close to my heart.
