A charming quick read that hit a little close to home.

June Jones life stops when her mother gets sick and dies a few years later. She lives in their old house, surrounded by the same things, even taking up her mothers job at the local library.

One day the council drops a bomb, they need to close libraries to save money. Junes library is one of those that might be closing down.

A lot of people depend on the library and they need to save it.

A story about friendship and healing, a love letter to libraries.

This book warmed my heart so much and I love when books capture the scene perfectly and you can feel the atmosphere the book portrays. There’s a wide variety of characters that each has their place to fill at the local library. Their small town library is in talks of being shut down and they all band together to do what they can to try and save it.

This one was just what I needed after reading mostly thrillers this summer. The perfect feel-good book!

“Now June Jones, I need to pick your brain on a book recommendation…”

This was a sweet, endearing read. As a life long library lover, I especially appreciated the author's attempt to convey the importance of libraries to a community.

Who else loves to read books about books? 👋⁣

When I was looking to fill my July with some lighthearted reads, The Last Chance Library was mentioned multiple times and definitely hit the mark for what I was looking for.

A library in danger? ✅⁣
Small town vibes? ✅ ⁣
An unlikely hero? ✅ ⁣
A gigantic pull on your heart strings? ✅ ⁣

I think an unpopular opinion here, but I had a hard time connecting with June’s character. I really struggled with her inner dialogue at times, and it was eye-opening to me to experience social anxiety through a character like her. Ultimately, I just didn’t find her incredibly relatable, to me personally, but I think she would be relatable to SO MANY people. Her small wins were HUGE wins in her journey to be the person she wanted and needed to be. ⁣

Now, there was an obvious star of the show with this novel, and that was Stanley. His sacrifice, his open heart and mind and his quiet strength was so lovely to read. I would go back and read this book specifically to read his story again.⁣

I really liked the heart of this book. The author really captured the spirit of what a library is to a community. The characters depicted in the teeny village were realistic and, honestly, seemed a lot like the crowd I regularly run into at my local library! It was crazy to imagine the services that a library offers being packaged up and removed from a community… scary stuff. 😬⁣ I, thankfully, buddy read this with @readwith_adele so was able to share my emotions as I went through the roller coaster of this book.

A library is always so much more than books. ❤️
