I found this book to be impossible to finish. The writing very simplistic, felt like it was written by someone in middle or high school. Just nothing to sink your teeth into, may try it again another day, but highly doubtful.
Like a Dan Brown novel meets National Treasure. I really enjoyed it!
mysterious
slow-paced
Listened to this series on audiobook. It was definitely interesting enough to continue listening but sometimes was slow and caused me to loose focus. Cool premise though!
Suspenseful
I chose this rating because the story hooked me in. It gives you some views of a world you will never enter. It makes you question things you think you know. The main character is likeable and you really root for him. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I did not like the cliffhanger ending with so much still unresolved.

Predictable in some ways, but a good read. Sets up for a sequel. Reminds me of Baldacci's Camel Club series.
It takes place at my work and the main character is based in part on a good friend of mine - of course I'm reading it!
The Inner Circle is my first Brad Meltzer novel, and after listening to an interview with him I'd say my hopes were a little high. Overall I enjoyed it for the most part. The book itself is easy reading and can be done within two days. Or maybe do it as a nightly read for a week. Either way this was relaxing to me since I really only liked the first half. I thought it started out strong with interesting concepts, however, I felt that there was a promise to the reader at the beginning that this would get into a lot of history and be part of a great thriller. At the end of reading this book I felt like Meltzer didn't keep his promise. Yes, at the beginning he sets up the history and concept really well, enough that you'll probably be able to read the first half in a day with excitement in your heart. It wasn't until the middle and finally the third act that I started to feel gypped. Without spoiling anything I thought the characters' revelations at the end felt forced, and the whole exciting climax was nothing more than a pointless "It was ----" "Don't listen to ---- it was ----" and that's where I finally understood that this novel doesn't have a good ending. Yes it sets up the sequel more than closing this book's story, but ultimately what this book felt like to me was nothing more than the first act to a story, which at the end of the day is disappointing, but at the same time I still enjoyed the ride.
The story was very interesting and I like to time jumps as they related to the characters. I'm familiar with the author from his shows on the History channel and his books are very similar.
I am a huge Brad Meltzer fan but have sadly been disappointed with his last couple of novels. Here, Meltzer returns to form. There is a literal ton of history that is beyond interesting but it is woven into a great plot with a ton of twists. The main characters and many of the supporting characters are given their own unique voice and it was very well done. Without spoiling anything, my small pet peeve with this is somewhat of a continuing element as almost all of Brad's other work. Also the ending makes me want to read what's next! Really good stuff!
A fascinating look at the hidden treasures of the National Archives makes this worth reading. President George Washington's "Culper Ring" of spies is still active in today's presidency. This inner circle of unofficial spies may have arranged a murder. Is an archivist involved? What about his former high school girlfriend who learns the government may have harmed her newly discovered biological father that she learns attempted to assassinate a president?
A quick-paced page-turner that is first in a series. While long at 449 pgs, this is easier reading. No sex and no overt violence.
