A fairly fun book covering some wide concepts and assumptions about world structures, wouldn't take any of it too too seriously but still quite a fun outlook on some topics
Key takeaways:
- Connectors know a vast number of people and serve as hubs for social networks. They naturally bring different groups together. This makes them critical in spreading ideas.
- Mavens are informations specialists. They accumulate knowledge or spot trends and love sharing it with others. They influence others by providing reliable, persuasive information that helps people make decisions.
- Salespeople are charismatic and can persuade others to act. They amplify the appeal of an idea or product, making it more attractive and convincing to others.
Example: A Maven identifies a new product or trend. The Connector spreads this information to a wide and diverse audience, building a base of early adopters. The Salesperson helps persuade hesitant individuals to adopt it, drastically increasing the uptake.
All three are necessary to create an epidemic.
- A good salesperson

This book is so appropriate for today's climate.
Unfortunately there is still a call for social justice, and we find ourselves at a tipping point.
The tipping point is that magic moment when an idea, trend, or social behavior crosses a threshold, tips, and spreads like wildfire. Just as a single sick person can start an epidemic of the flu

Better than the Revenge of the Tipping Points
I read this book off-and-on slowly over time, so I don't have the full-picture sense of it that I would have if I'd read it in one sitting, but it's extremely well thought out, extremely well written, and very recommended. I feel smarter for having read it. I may go back and read it again, only this time, all in one go.
A good book to spark discussion, the author definitely raises some interesting points. I got a little annoyed with the constant recapping of previous ideas mentioned, but found all the case studies used to prove his theories fascinating.
I liked this book because it's well put together, interesting, and has both fascinating tidbits and grand ideas. But I had the same problem with it that I have with most of Gladwell's writing in the New Yorker -- he's just a little too clever. I liked it enough to try more of his other books, though.
A mind changing, reality altering read! There is not enough good praise to give to this book. Anyone that enjoys reading about social behavior, design, and trends should read this.
And finally, I declare myself as a Maven, an information collector per excellence. Curious? Get the book! :P
