Tour de force book and likely to remain at the top of my list as one of the best books I've listened to this year ( even though it's only March). Each of the three main characters has their own narrator and they are all exceptional. Twenty four hours of listening and worth the time invested by the reader or listener.Historical fiction at its best. Adrienne covering an aspect of Frances influence on the American Revolution and her experience of the French Revolution. Beatrice, an American who brings in WWl. Marthe an orphan who brings in WWll. All three timelines are linked by the Chateau Lafayette- the birthplace of the Marquis de Lafayette located in Chavaniac, France.

I think this book started off a bit slow but overall it was a great read. I was humbled by my lack of knowledge of the French Revolution and WWI and WWII. It’s fun to read about the female perspective since all the history books are about men
