Anna of Arendelle and the Silver Skates, 3.5⭐️
- It is really cool to be able to see just how much Elsa cares for Anna, even when they can’t spend time together. It’s clear that all Elsa wants to do is make her sister happy, and protect her at the same time.
Engaging Anna and Kristoff, 3.75⭐️
- For such a short read, This story explores 2 different storylines:
- For Elsa and the Boulders, it explores the difficulties of meshing two families’ traditions for one party.
- For Anna and Kristoff, it explores how difficult it can be to keep a secret or surprise from one another.
- This is a quick cute little story with a happy ending, cute moments, and sweet morals.
Cold Secrets Deep Down, 5⭐️
- I loved seeing our characters in a new environment. The sea!
- Elsa found a way to use her experience feeling dangerous and isolated, and it really helped solidify Elsa as a strong-willed and compassionate person.
A Midsummer’s Song and Dance, 3.75 ⭐️
- When I picked up this book, I really didn’t think we’d see much of General Mattias, and yet he was the main character in this story- I liked it! Refreshing point of view and sweet dialogue from a man who missed his wife after being separated for so long.
- Olaf was easily the best part of this short story- he was witty, clever, and acknowledged the strangeness of the situations he was put in.
- I also really enjoyed Sven’s small parts in this story. I would’ve liked to see a bit more of Kristoff, but it was nice to be with our side characters during this little story.
Anna and the King, 3⭐️
- I always enjoy the times we go back to spend time with Iduna and Agnarr. I do think the execution here could’ve been a bit better. Anna’s experiences in the past didn’t seem directly connected to her present, other than simply missing her dad.
- I really enjoyed the political implications of this short story. It goes to show that Anna is forgiving and willing to work on being a great leader for her people.
Wandering Oaken and the Not-So-Hyyge Day, 2⭐️
- I didn’t hate it, but I was bored pretty much the whole way through. If you like slice of life, you’ll probably enjoy it.
- There’s hardly any plot, it just takes you through a day in the life of shop owner, Oaken. A few fun puns and wordplay throughout, but the story really did its best when he interacts with Olaf, Kristoff, and Sven.
Elsa and the Frost Monster, 3.5⭐️
- This book takes place in the space between Frozen and Frozen 2. That timeline feels a bit muddled and confusing considering the first two pages are in a dream eerily similar to Elsa striking Anna’s heart in Frozen. At the same time, I’m not sure how the author could’ve fixed this issue sooner. I wish there was a timeline guide for this anthology as a whole! This isn’t a big issue for me- especially not big enough to make an impact on my rating. Take this as an observation on the anthology as a whole and the role this story played in it.
- This short story explores the aftermath of the great thaw. It helps explain what happens to all of Elsa’s other creations- and how she needs to confront her actions for the good of everyone in Arendelle.
- Overall, I thought this story was very well written. It wasn’t my favorite though as I felt the Frost Monster really was just a hybrid of Snowball and Olaf- but intended to be the stuff of legends Elsa grew up hearing.
- I loved the callbacks and Elsa’s journey to to the North Mountain. It was cool to discover her palace was still standing as well!
- I’m conflicted because I enjoyed my time with this short story, but I’m upset that Snowball wasn’t even mentioned in this story! I know he’s not that big of a deal, but all of these Frozen authors have done amazing work at keeping continuity, and I just can’t buy the fact that Elsa hasn’t even thought of Snowball in regards to this frost monster!
Call of the Cuckoo, 1⭐️
- This story is one that is passed down and further develops the Northuldran culture. (Not by a lot overall, but it was a unique enough concept.)
- This one started off interesting and then quickly got very boring- I fell asleep a couple times during this and had to restart just to make sure I was understanding. It was not easy reading.
- I read this twice— 2 days in a row just to try my hardest to enjoy it. Maybe I was just really tired the first time around? Turns out that both times I read it, it was very forgettable, hard to understand, and just generally not fun. One of these stories is not like the others

I normally don't like anthologies, but as a big Frozen fan, I knew I had to pick this one up for the 10 year anniversary.
And it was good!
All of the stories, even the two I didn't like, all had that Frozen flair that I love.
The characterization was very true to the characters and I loved all the tidbits the various authors added to them.
Though the last story by Mari Mancusi was by far the best one. It's plot felt like it's own miniature movie that I definitely see myself reading again out of all of them.
If you're a fan of Frozen, I recommend :)
