these fights scenes are awesome and all the main characters are so funny and cute!
May 2023. A YA manga about a retired Hitman who runs a shop peacefully but gets pulled back into conflicts he has to solve without killing.
This was so so, felt like a generic “meh” manga. Definitely hard to hold up against “Way of the Househusband” and “Spy x Family,” both of which I’ve loved.
I only read the first volume and probably wouldn’t read more. It wasn’t awful just *shrug.* borrowed from Sac library.
“Sakamoto Days” vol 1 by Yuto Suzuki.

Sakamoto Days, Vol. 1 (My Kindle Review)
Sakamoto was once a legendary hitman who was revered and feared, but one day he suddenly gave it all up when he fell in love, got married and is now running a convenience store with his wife and young daughter. He gets a surprise visit from a clairvoyant from his past who warns him that a price has been put on his head. With a new acquaintance by his side and his old skills intact, he will find himself in violent situations while making sure he keeps his family safe.
An exhilarating and fast paced assassin manga that perfectly balances thrills and humor in its interesting “what if” take. There’s definitely some similar elements that reminded me of “Spy X Family” and “Assassination Classroom”. The story, characters and endless action keeps Sakamoto’s story a very exciting pick to read. A (100%/Outstanding)

Action, comedy, drama and very likable characters, it’s definitely a must-read if you like the genre ! Be aware though that one of the running jokes is about Sakamoto being fat and eating a lot (aka fatphobia) and it can be triggering.

I’ve been meaning to check this out and went in with basic knowledge of the series premise—a retired legendary hitman trying to evade threats from his past.
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at just how much I enjoyed this! It’s such a fun and entertaining read with a dash of wholesomeness. The cast of characters are really likeable and the world that’s being set up is intriguing.
One thing that really stood out for me in this were the action sequences. They are super dynamic and really capture the essence and intensity of the combat.
Overall I’m looking forward to reading more and also checking out the anime adaption.
I would definitely recommend, especially if you love things like Spy x Family and John Wick!
