Another easy read in this series. Kitty returns to deal with her old pack and gets involved with a supernatural war. Not particularly original but I'm still enjoying the series.

I liked it..... I Don't really overly enjoy books that have cancer and miscarriages in them... that's the only reason its a three star for me.... not anything to do with the rest of the plot or the writing, i understand why the author put it in the book... It just ruined the read for me a little.....

The rest of the plot was nail biting and brilliant, at first i was a little reluctant about Kitty and Ben, but i kind of get it now... hes a bit softer a bit more homely but he has a little of Cormac's edge too.

Kitty is pulled into a territory War in her home town of Denver where she was once banished from by her old pack Alpha's, seeing an opportunity to help those she left behind, she takes it along with the help of Ben, the Cops and a few wayward vamps...

Missed Cormac but glad he made an appearance.

I really like the Kitty Norville books. The third one was so good I wondered where the fourth installment would go and I was not dissapointed. I am a fan.

Kitty and Ben are reasonably happy with their life together outside Denver`but that soon crashes to a stop when Rick asks them to return to the city to help him take over. He wants to overthrow Arturo and needs Kitty and Ben to take the wolf pack from Meg and Carl. It's the last thing that Kitty wants to do and she refuses but her mother's cancer scare means going back to the city and trying to keep a low profile from her old Pack, who may kill her on sight.

Kitty and Ben are still going through a bit of a testing time in their relationship. As soon as Ben turned werewolf, his wolf and Kitty's wolf became a mated pair. Their human sides followed but are not finding the transition so easy. Ben was a friend and her lawyer but she had never considered any other relationship with him and is wondering if they are only together because of their wolves. She has also had the shock of being told of her mother's operation to remove possible cancer and has discovered that when she last shifted, she miscarried a baby. Knowing she can never have children because of her condition is a massive blow. Ben is realising how hard it is to have a shared life with Kitty, who is used to doing everything herself.

A vampire who has been a performer on stage and screen has decided to come out and Kitty is thrilled to have her do it on her radio show. She is very much in awe of Mercedes but soon realises that the coming out revelation is not the real reason that the vampire is in town. As the war is ready to start between Rick and Arturo, Mercedes is determined to play a part in the events that are unfolding. The question is, which side is she on and what kind of interfering is she going to do? A simple invite to visit Mercedes at her hotel brings Kitty face to face with the warring vampires and her old Pack Alphas. Now Kitty is in the game with Ben whether she likes it or not and starts to fear for the safety of her family.

Kitty's former Pack would like nothing more than to see Kitty and Ben take over as Meg and Carl are very much hated and feared. The most submissive wolf Jenny, who has been abused in the same way that Kitty once was, asks Kitty to help her get away from Denver. This act will be seen as an act against Carl and Kitty knows it but she cannot turn her back on Jenny. At the same time Rick is gathering his vampire and shifter loyalists at a warehouse, waiting for the moment to try and take over. But both plans are going to run into some trouble at the same time.

The book deals with a lot of personal issues for Kitty and we get the chance to see how she has grown from the scared wolf in book one to a more confident and determined young woman. Yet she still has insecurities with her boyfriend, family issues weighing on her mind and a past that seems to keep trying to drag her down. These are things that the reader can certainly relate to. I like that though Kitty is a werewolf and has accepted that new life, she is determined to be more human than wolf. A lot shifter stories have the wolf dominating and the human side being less important so I liked seeing Kitty wanting as close to normal a human life as she can. Her realisation that she can never have kids is particularly sad for her.

I felt in the second half of the book that the series really hit its stride and since reading this, I have read 4 more books in the series and very much enjoying them. Having Kitty deal with her past here is a lot of fun to read about and it shows her character coming full circle. Rick is my favourite character as he is a vampire with personality and seems to like Kitty and Ben. It is just a pity that we're seeing very little of Cormac who is such a great character. I also like the introduction of the other Pack members and a few of them look quite interesting.

In the beginning of the series I felt that something was lacking from the series in some way, despite enjoying the books but this is the book where I felt things coming together for me as a reader. Since finishing this book, I have enjoyed the series so much more moving forward.

This latest installment brings us back to where we first met Kitty and shows us how much her character has grown. It was really cool to see her struggle with having to confront unresolved issues from the past before she felt like she was ready and yet rise to the challenge. Her internal conflict struck me as authentic, and sometimes it's nice to be able to identify with a character. She emerges bloody but not broken as the author hints at some very interesting wider world issues to be explored in the books to come.

people laugh when I tell them I'm reading a series of books about a werewolf named Kitty. Hey, the NAME came first ^_^

The best thing for me is that despite her ... affliction? ... she still maintains her family ties. Calls with Mom every Sunday (who DOES that?). They know her sister's dog *really* doesn't like her (I couldn't even tell you how many dogs my sister HAS). It's been awhile, but her brother-in-law and both her niece & her nephew at least recognizer her! That wouldn't likely be the case w/my family

Well, Kitty's mom has been diagnosed with cancer and despite her exile from the Denver pack, she's going home, come hell or high water!

This might actually be my favorite in the series... I really love the paranormal politics of Kitty's world.
