This was my first Brooke Montgomery book and it will certainly NOT be my last. I ate this book up and left no crumbs. I’ve been on a cowboy romance streak this summer and I never want it to end. Thankfully there’s a bunch more series of Brooke’s I need to get into!

Second chance romance isn’t always my thing but Brooke did it so beautifully here. The addition of them still being married made it even better. Then adding in forced proximity? I’m ALL IN.

A cowboy with an attitude is *chef’s kiss* for me. Warren has a filthy mouth and I LOVED it. He just wants to make sure she’s making the right decision before signing the divorce papers because he’s still in love with her. Ugh my heart!

She’s a city girl who found a new boo and just wants to come back to get the divorce papers signed. The tension is so thick and the chemistry is fire. Maisie is a strong woman… that’s all I have to say. Whew!

If you’re in your cowboy romance era and want something to scratch that itch, pick this up immediately. Then run to Brooke’s other series after!

Huge thank you to Brooke Montgomery and Ember Literary PR for this ARC! I am absolutely obsessed and cannot wait to dive into book 2!

Thanks, @mustloveaudio for the ALC!
Warren and Maisie fall in love as teenagers, get married it their early 20s and then life happened. They did the long distance thing while Maisie went to college and Warren stayed at the ranch, but Maisie never came back. She stayed in NY, became a literary agent and is ready to start over with a new man. There's just one little wrench in her plans: they never got divorced. No matter how many times she sends Warren divorce papers, they come back unsigned. So, she decides to confront him in person when she goes to Tennessee for her brother's baby's shower.
Warren is living his life at the ranch. His heart pretty much belongs to Maisie and it always will. He never even looked at another woman. (Yes, you read correctly.) So, when she comes banging on his door with the papers, he proposes a deal: give him seven dates, one week, for him to prove to her that they belong together. If by the end of the week she doesn't change her mind, he'll sign the papers.
The audiobook is narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Aiden Snow in dual style. They both give us a lovely and melodious southern accent! Savannah's performance is wonderful as the determined Maisie, who's been a people pleaser all her life and finally finds her footing. Aiden is swoony as the green flag Warren, a man who took his wedding vows very seriously and who will do anything to get his wife back.
I saw someone say that if 'Sweet Home Alabama' and 'The Notebook' had a baby it would be this one and that is spot on! Some people will take issue with Maisie being engaged when she gets back with Warren, but her situation is way more complicated than that. I despise the cheating trope in books and I was okay with what happens here.
You get a hero who builds her a dream home (even knowing she might never live there), who learns to cook for her and who speaks with Aiden's voice! Swoon! You also (if you have been reading Brooke's books) recognize a few characters from the Sugarland series. I love when that happens! Great fun!
Content notes: there's an element of cheating here, so be warned if this is not for you, toxic relationship with a parent, injuries sustained while dealing with a horse,

This was such a great second chance romance. Maisey was still with her new guy and yet still married to Warren when she returns to town and these two find each other again. While this one doesn't have the dreaded cheating on the other MC, there is some heavy cheating going on, so be mindful of your triggers going in.

I absolutely loved that Warren waited for her. So often we see the FMC wait for basically forever while the MMC gets his rocks off with some other girl while they're apart... But not Warren. This man waited literal years for Maisey to come back to him. She was his first and his last and he's basically book husband material from beginning to end. I adored him.

The audio was amazing. Savannah Peachwood and Aiden Snow were both incredible in this audiobook and I loved this listen so much. Thank you Must Love Audio for the advanced copy!

if you're anything like me, you watched Sweet Home Alabama on REPEAT as a child. i used to take my moms magazine into the hair salon to cut my bangs like Reese Witherspoon; that's how obsessed i was lol. this book is so Sweet Home coded and i LOVED every minute of it. Maisie is stronger than me though because i would have FOLDED immediately lol.

this book is your next read if you love
-sweet home alabama vibes
-childhood lovers
-forced proximity
-found family
-second chance romance

I absolutely loved this book! It was 4.5 stars for me. Second chance romance is my favorite trope when it is done right and Brooke did a wonderful job.

There were parts of the book that made me laugh and parts that made me cry and I will always love a book that can make me feel such strong emotion.

The banter between not only the main characters but Warren’s siblings was fun to read and made the story so enjoyable.

Warren was such an amazing MMC. I love that he never doubted his feelings for Maisie and his decisions were all based on the life they planned together. His love language was definitely acts of service and it is beautiful to read about a man that is so head over heels.

I loved that you could feel the chemistry and love between Warren and Maisie from the very first chapter.

Take My Name was such a great start to the Willow Branch Mountain series and I can’t wait for the next book.

This was so reminiscent of Sweet Home Alabama and a tint bit of The Notebook. Not very spicy 🌶️/5 It was an extreme slow burn. It’s not the best smoothest read of the year but it was sweetly appreciated.
