Such a cool idea for a story, where there are beings in our world that literally eat books to absorb the information within.  That is all I knew going in, and what a delightful surprise that there is so much more!  This world felt like a True Blood/Handmaid’s Tale mash-up and I was invested throughout.  What a fantastic character Devon is!!  My only reservation with grading this higher is specifically 2 things.  The Book-eating concept is somewhat abandoned later for another crazy concept, but not quite as cool.  Also, there is a HINT of lore surrounding where these beings come from…and I was disappointed it was left unexplained.  Any resolution to that would boost this to 4.5.  Great book!!

Good story. Dark/pessimistic really dystopian though.

The book felt like a synopsis of 3 separate books I really wanted to read. I wish it had more depth to it in almost every aspect.

This book has a central theme of a mother struggling to keep her children which is a very, very big trauma for me
