I initially had this one on my radar to read around Lunar New Year as I love a good seasonal read. I did enjoy these themes as the backdrop for this story and appreciated reading more about these traditions and celebrations.
•
However, I wasn’t aware of some of the other major themes of this book and how much they’d resonate with me! I went into this one almost completely blind (I love when that happens!). I love the overarching exploration of interconnectedness—between art and science, between individual growth and relationships, and between facts and feelings. I also really appreciate Rooney and Jack’s constant debate of fate vs. choice that is woven throughout the entire story. It really highlights the existence of duality in all things, and I like how the characters learn to embrace the power of “AND” by the end of the story. This really made me think more deeply about my own belief system and how I view the world, life events, outcomes, etc.
•
This was a fun, cute palette cleanser for me, and it was the perfect choice around Lunar New Year/Valentine’s Day. This story also has some great secondary characters which I find to be rare. Ultimately, I really enjoyed this one, and it definitely has more depth than I was initially anticipating which is a major plus!

I loved the main premise and the characters were so cute, but I walked away wanting to know more about them.
The audio book is great!
I liked the characters and rooted for their relationship.

rooney is an artist that’s trying to catch a big break. jack works for nasa. while on a business trip to new york, he meets rooney & they have a magical night. rooney gets jack’s number so they can continue to keep in touch, but she has a digit wrong & can’t contact jack when she tries. years later rooney & jack meet again by chance, but it’s complicated, because they’re meeting for work

this book was so cute! i loved the chemistry between rooney & jack. the way they met in new york was so cute & fun. i love that rooney showed him around to some of her favorite places for the night. i’m glad they eventually found their way back to each other and were able to work it out, despite it being complicated at first
rooney really struggled with the fact that her mom delivered her in the museum & the fact that it went viral. we did out the specific reason that she’s so upset about the video & it makes so much sense. i love that rooney dealt with her feelings throughout the book & worked to overcome them, realizing that she nor her mother did anything wrong to cause what happened to happen
this was my favorite book of january. i have lunar love & yin yang love song on my tbr also. i’m excited to read them eventually!

Took me a while to finish this book, but I was in love with the theories, the tests, the chase, and metaphors. I felt like I fall in a reading slump while Rooney was battling art block, it was a joint journey and this book just makes me fall for love and fate even more, even giving me new perspective on choosing love.
