This book felt like mostly set up and getting everything into place for the fourth book but I'm so invested in the characters and everything that's happening at this point that I had an absolute blast reading it.
It's especially satisfying that the story, which had been so focussed in on the expedition in the previous book, has zoomed out again to include characters from the previous books and the wider picture with everything that's happening in Chalced. I will never not be impressed by how seamlessly Robin Hobb manages to tie everything together andthe reference to the small fire that Fitz caused all the way back in book 3 made me actually gasp.
It's also interesting to get a bit of Hest's perspective, especially now that he's more tied into the wider plot, but I'm glad that Hobb hasn't tried to redeem him yet. I'm interested to see where his character goes and what happens when he's reunited with Sedric and Alise.
Excited to read the final Rain Wilds book and see how everything ties up!

Great little filler book in this series. Not that the content was filler, but it did feel like it needed to fill in some info before the final book. I really enjoyed this one. Robin Hobb has a great way or making you feel
bad for the characters you hate, which is annoying, but GREAT writing. l'm both excited and sad to start the final book in the Rainwild Chronicles
