Excellent, so good to be back with the twins on their adventures. Vashti Hardy hooks you in and then you cannot put the books down.

Vashti, when you wrote Brightstorm I didn’t think you could surpass that but then along came Darkwhispers. This is written absolutely beautifully and the new worlds you created are just stunning.
In this book we follow Arthur and Maudie on a whole new adventure.
They are back on the Aurora and assisting Eudora Vane who in this book shows herself to be on the high end of female villains in middle grade fiction. She certainly shows her true colours even more in this.
I adored the descriptions of some of the new worlds and the things in them. Vashti’s writing was so good you could shut your eyes and you’d almost expect to see to what she has described on opening them.
The adventures this time round whilst looking for the lost explorer were amazing and I actually loved this book more. The whole book just read much much better and i got totally absorbed into this more than i did with Brightstorm. This was brilliant and i highly highly recommend picking up this series. We now just need another book in this series and a possible final adventure for Arthur and Maudie to go on. Loved it

Read- May 2020 for Believathon II and 24 Hour Raedathon (hosted by JadeyRaeReads)
- This was so perfect however I am absolutely devastated by that ending.

Read- April 2021
- The ending of this was still so devastating. I didn't cry this time but I was still so upset.

This series is two for two for making me cry. It’s like she knew exactly what beats to hit to hurt my heart. And yet it’s still able to have a happy, hopefully, wholesome ending. Also, I haven’t seen anyone else mention it but you can’t convince me that Arthur doesn’t have ADHD. I looked and couldn’t find if Vashti Hardy has ADHD herself, but I saw a lot of my childhood self in Arthur and it had the ring of first hand experience. And if you love anthropomorphic animals (I sure do!), this series has several and to varying degrees.

Was genau wollte er dort?

Oh wow. . . Just when I thought I'd probably give this book 4 stars that ending came along and I have to give it 5. While I wasn't a fan of how much the twins were apart in this book, I do appreciate the choice behind it especially as it allowed them each to grow as their own person. The surprises in this book were mind-blowing and the descriptions were just magical. I loved the worldbuilding and thought it was even better than before. And of course , the narration was fantastic once again. I do hope there's another book in the series as I can't wait.
