This is one of my very favorite books to share with a child. We can sit for hours talking about the pictures.

I thought this was a beautifully illustrated book, but C may be too old for alphabet books at 4 1/2.
The weird thing is that the vocabulary was very advanced, beyond what someone learning the alphabet would understand. So that was a bit frustrating for C. But perhaps younger kids would go with the flow more and just listen to the sounds associated with each letter.

One of my favorites as a kid. Still totally holds up. Absolutely stunning artwork.

A book to savor, this multi-layered alphabet book has something for all ages. It's part puzzle, part seek-and-find, part vocabulary exercise, and always a feast for the eyes. I love the lions in the library and the gorillas eating green grapes best!

I want to figure out where this book is in my collection. I suspect it is in a box in the basement of doom. Love this book.

One of the best A-Z books I've ever read! Graeme Base's detailed, intriguing illustrations accompany wonderful alliterations in this delightful romp through an imaginative, animal-populated world.

My older kids have enjoyed this book for more than a decade, and now I'm excited to share it with my four-year-old. Graeme Base is always a solid win.
