I picked this seemingly innocuous book up at the library only to find that while aimed at middle grades, it deals with a young boy navigating adolescence along with his parents' divorce. We soon find out that the divorce is caused by his father's drinking problem.

A heavy topic handled with ease and empathy towards all of the characters.

The drawings use pastels and grays and are easy on the eyes which is good since the topic is heavy on the heart.

Lovely and sad and just the right amount of hopeful. Beautiful art. Beautiful words. I picked this up at the public library in Haslett, Michigan while visiting family. I feel lucky to have found it on the shelf.

this was super cute.

the art is just amazing, I loved it so much. the story was pretty good as well, but I did think it could be more developed towards the end. still, such a lovely read.

This beautiful, nuanced graphic novel reads like watching a French film.

Auuuggghh. My tiny, shriveled heart grew at least five sizes from reading this. Louis's view of love is so fragile and honest, but brave. The art is amazing and startling emotional, especially the use of yellow. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

Beautiful illustrations for a one sad, but poignant story about a boy dealing with his separated parents, alcoholic father, and unrequited crush on the love of his life, a girl named Billie.

The art is some of the best I've seen in a very long time, stylistically and some of the individual frames were just gorgeous. Along with a narrative that, while simplistic, conveys it's coming of age narrative mixed with the bittersweet reality of his parents turmoil. It's really quite fantastic
