This was a re-telling of Blood and Ash from Cas’s perspective. Some new plot development. But mostly character development getting to know Cas better.

I have mixed feelings about the book just cause it was basically FBAA but from Cas’s POV. It was enjoyable but the “present chapters” were boring and pointless. I enjoyed the first and last present chapters and the ending was *chefs kiss* but I do wish that the present chapters were more than what it was.
The last chapter was a sudden whirlwind and I can’t believe I’m expected to wait to see what’s next like excuse me, but that’s rude lol

okayyy this book was interesting and so fun to read from cas’ retrospective pov but also the plot did not move forward like at all so this also could’ve been a good spin off book

i’m in shock. awe. all of the emotions. since i only had 30 pages left i basically read this in a day, and if that doesn’t show my dedication to this series, idk what does. first of all, casteel has quickly taken the spot for no1 book bf. i don’t care what ANYONE says about him, he’s perfect. the way he appreciates poppy for who she is outside of her power is especially important to me, this man would literally do ANYTHING for my girl and i love him so much for it. i know a lot of people complain about the repetitive writing but i personally love casteel’s obsession with poppy and her viscous ways, i just love seeing a man on his knees (literally) for his woman. poppy is just incredible: powerful, brave, argumentative, fearless, kind and i love her so much. the both of them together are everything and i will not be forgetting about them anytime soon. in fact, i want to get a tattoo in their honour to permanently mark my devotion to them. this series is fucking incredible. it’s everything i want in a fantasy series and i cannot wait for the next book.
