spectacular

The Spectacular Now is an extremely easy to read book, with short chapters and a way to narrate that keeps your interest to its maximum. This edition has 294 pages, which are filled with the story of Sutter Keely and his way to experience and perceive life.

Books always deliver stories with the purity with which they were thought and intended by the author; so if you already watched the movie, be prepared for a clash of ideas. Both movies and books usually pursue a different ending for their own, this is no exception.

I believe this book has a lot to offer when it comes to life lessons. How extremes aren't always good and trying to find a balance seems appropriate. How fun and fulfilling as well as empty and lonely can be to live in the spectacular now.

Hope you guys enjoy it. It's a nice read.

The Spectacular Now was interesting because I saw the movie first. In the movie, Shailene Woodley plays the main female character. It was hard for me to not think of her when reading this, and honestly, Shailene plays the character as stronger than she is portrayed in the book. Also, the book is told from the male lead’s point of view which I think also skews things a bit. (Of note, Miles Teller plays the male lead in the movie, and I just adore him.)

funny, irreverent perspective of the teen years from the life of the party, sutter keely. though ridiculous at times, the way sutter handles the hard issues in his life is beautifully realistic, totally charming, and ultimately heart-breaking. i was especially pleased with the ending. highly recommended.

I really don't know how to feel after reading this. I guess it just shows that some people never change, sometimes you don't get a happy ending, and some ends are left loose.

ROUGH dude! I’ve known more than one Sutter in my life and it’s sad but eye opening to read his story. The writing style took a little bit to get used to, but it reminds me heavily of the literary books I read in high school. I can easily see this book being assigned to English students.

I must have seen the movie trailer years ago and written this off as another teen romance. It’s absolutely not that. I’m glad I gave reading it a chance.

Death of a Salesman, Seize the Day

I have faith in none of these adults because of their their issues, yet so much belief in all of these teenagers despite their issues.

I really didn’t see myself loving this book so much and I definitely didn’t see myself getting so emotionally invested in it. This took a lot more out of me than I expected and that ending is probably not for everyone but this pushed all the right buttons for me.
