There were parts of this book that I absolutely loved: witty banter, enemies to lovers, the friendships, the bookstagram, the romance reader/author.

But unfortunately there was a pretty big moment that really took it down a notch for me. So I can't decide on a rating. Read content warnings before you read. Message me on Instagram (same username) if you have questions.

I really enjoyed the characters and the development of their relationship at the start of this story. This story had lots of fun references and themes including: enemies to lovers, book lovers, romance readers, bookstagram, musical theater, and a bulldog. I felt invested in this story and the trajectory of this romance until that major explosion happened 75% of the way through the book. Then it took foreverrrrr to find a resolution for these two and lots of moments that seemed confusing, including the introduction an additional character. By the time the two characters are in the same location once more, the story still does not have a conclusion...but a delayed ending once more. While I don't agree with how they worked everything out (it seems a little bit easy to forgive him for what he's done) and the main female character is often very selfish and excludes family during her grief, I was happy to see the two finally work out their own happy ending.

This was one of those stories that started off intriguing, kept my interest throughout the middle of the story until I was shocked about 75% of the way through, only to lose a lot of interest because the last 25% of the story was so drawn out. At least the characters got their happy ending and seem happy with one another in the epilogue set a few years later.
