Would I Lie to the Duke by Eva Leigh

I absolutely adored the first book in this series. I like this one a lot, but it doesn’t quite do it for me in the same way. I loved the chemistry between the characters. I loved the witty banter. However, the “big deception” trope—quite common in romance—is probably my least favorite. Do I understand why one character deceived the other? Yes. I’m just not a fan of this plot device.

This just wasn't for me. Noel was bland, Jess got on my nerves.. the sex scenes were just.. lacking to me. And it might just be me, but some of the language used didn't feel historical.

A great listen!!! Veeeery hot. So hot. Two smart, hot people. I knew I would enjoy the duke’s book after the first one, but this was so enjoyable. Noel and Jess are great. I struggle with deception. I did have to skip like two minutes of the reveal. But they came back together beautifully. Can’t wait to read the next one. Wish there was a fourth with the friends who are obviously queer/into each other.

This book took to long to get to the good stuff (if you know what I mean). The entire first half is quite boring. When we finally get to the relationship and the sexy time, I'm not so sure I like the heroine. Anyway, give it a try...maybe you will like it.

Jess McGale's family is having a rough go of it with their soap business and as head of the family, it's her job to make it blossom. The Duke of Rotherby plays and works hard but hides that last bit to everyone but his friends. A chance encounter on Bond Street has him thinking of her long after until he meets her again as " Lady Whitfield" at a secretly- and very lucrative- Bazaar for rich investors.
You desperately want them to act on their attraction to each other and Eva Leigh is a master at witty dialogue and hot scenes. If these two were the businesswoman Barbie and Ken that I played within the 80s I would have them smashing face after a third way into the book.
