Fight Club has become such a prolific piece of culture that it’s difficult to review. This was a reread for me after about 10 years. Reading and knowing the twist allows you to pick up on little breadcrumbs throughout the book you don’t realize in your first read through. Palahniuk’s writing style really draws you in and becomes rhythmic at points. It definitely invokes a feeling rather than walking the reader through things descriptively. You may not understand what’s going on at points, but that feels purposeful. While it’s not my favorite of Palahniuk’s, its status has been cemented for good reason.

a crazy book
challenging dark tense fast-paced

The only punch you need to take is the punch in the face this book offers!

Capitalism is mad. The patriarchy is mad. This book is mad. Take it like a man.

I was unsure whether to give it a 3.5 star or a 4, but the afterword turned me. I advice everyone to read the book, but I REALLY advice people to read the afterword. In it, Chuck Palahniuk discusses the impact of the novel and film without making any statements. The book itself is witty, obscure, and bold. The afterword is all this AND more.

I've now become the type of person who loves a book cause the afterword was phenomenal! I am such an English lit grad cliche
