Okay, this is the first Nicholas Sparks book I ever read. Keep that in mind while I explain why I didn't like this book while everyone else did.

Nicholas Sparks, is the kind of author that repeats his stories with different characters in a slightly different setting. I knew going into this book that I would probably know the ending, because his endings are basically the same in every book. Only a few are actually different and considered original.

Yet, I read it anyway.

This book was so slow. I had to renew it from the library twice and then it was still late. That's how long it took me to read this! It was about two months before I finally finished.

With that said, I didn't like the characters. Except the love interest. He was okay. At least he had somewhat depth to him. Everyone else was just annoying or unimportant to the story.

Das beste Nicholas-Sparks-Buch, das ich bisher gelesen habe. Ein schöne Liebes- und Familiengeschichte, aber definitiv nicht zu kitschig!

Reread. So I reread this as I own it still, but I could not remember how I felt about it originally. There's not much else to say really, it's a nice fluffy contemporary.

I really spent the majority of this book complaining only to cry like a baby at the end, hey? Life is wild.

At first I thought the book was going to be really annoying, with Ronnie being a stuck up brat, but I was happy to see that through the chapters and through other character's narratives you could see her warmth. I was very glad for that. I didn't think I'd be so emotionally into it by the end, but the way he wrote the parts about her taking care of her father near the end was very touching and sad.

I actually saw the movie, but I guess it was long enough ago that I forgot most of what was happening until it happened and then it felt vaguely familiar, however, I'm now wondering if I also read the book at some point.

Overall, I liked it. :)
