A couple of these stories were really good, but several of them were okay or just boring. "Gingerbread Girl" is top shelf, A-1 quality. "In a Tight Spot" showcased King's ability to clearly and vividly describe what it would be like to be trapped in a Porta-potty. The longest story in the book "N" I was not a fan of and ended up skipping most it.

Onto the next King.

I guess I’m off on a Stephen king short story kick. So I picked this up and I would have to say I had not heard of this collection. Not to say I can rattle off every King book out there. But I had never crossed paths with this one.

I guess I can now say why. This was certainly not up to par with most of what I’ve read by him. Coming fresh off of “You Like It Darker”. I had high hopes for this. There are two stand out stories in this collection for me; “rest stop” and “N”. There are a couple that are ok, but there are a couple that I just felt aren’t very good. But like I’ve said, that is how collections go, you win some you lose some. But SK should IMO be past that.
This collection is from 2008 so I was really expecting a much better experience.

The best in the collection for me is “N”. A story about OCD and what if this type of trait was contagious. Really well done and has an ending that is right up my alley.

I’m glad I read this book to at least say I can check this off my list. But if you’re looking for a shorty story collection from King, I’d look at other options.
