MacKenzie gave me this book to read and it was so enjoyable! I cried a lot and laughed a lot. The book was written in a way that was so vivid that I felt like I saw these things happen and the characters were real people. It’s a good reminder that life goes on and you just have to keep living.
A great reminder of living while grieving. Having a will and testament in place is one thing but how would you want your spouse to live after your gone? A question this book tries to answer.
I think the book was better than the movie, and parts of it were very moving. But it just didn't do it for me.
I really, really enjoyed this book up until the next to last chapter. It made me feel sad, cry, laugh and pretty much every other emotion. I just feel like she built up this great story and let it crash and burn at the end. I was a little let down.

Ever wondered what would you feel like if you loose someone as dear to you as your own soul?
The more difficult question would be - How would you move on with life in that case? Do people ever forget and move on?
This light hearted yet so heavy book is all about answers to these questions. 'PS I Love You' is known as the romance fiction. Yes, the vet thought of getting love notes from your soulmate even after he/she rests in peace is utterly romantic. But, I found the story more about friendship, family and moving on (with the great help of soulmate of-course).

A lovely story. Lots of wonderful reflections on what it takes to continue when you loose someone you love. Also, a wonderful example of how relationships with friends and families constantly change.
I know I've read this before, but I had forgotten how vastly different the movie was from the book. At times I was wishing to see scenes from the movie. I love how Holly and Gerry meet in the movie, and the America/Ireland settings. But I really enjoy the premise of the story, no matter how it was told.
I lost my brother last year, and while that grief is not the same as it would be for a spouse, the highs and lows that Holly experiences are very real. Can I find joy in this moment or am I supposed to be sad? Holly definitely struggles to find that balance, she has moments joy and peace, and sometimes it's startling to see her flip back in a very low place. But it is very real.
The pacing is good, sometimes it feels drawn out, but it feels important that it was. And I think it actually explains a lot of the changes to the movie. So much of Holly's progression was internal.
And I just love that the story ends with an open ended hope. Anything else would have been very forced.

Cecelia Ahern writes with her trademark humour, and lighthearted manner. A hopeful story of moving on, and living one's best life. P.S ILY is rich in delightfully charming characters, and easy-going dialogue. I hope the film adaptation retains some of this book's optimistic spirit!
I will also be reading the sequel, Postscript, in September!
