PS I Love You

3.5 stars.
I'll admit that the only reason i picked this book up was because I so adored Where Rainbows End (one of my favourites). Unfortunately this wasn't as good as the story of Alex and Rosie.

Whilst enjoyable, amusing and hard to put down, I found that this book was kind of lacking something. Overall my view of this book is positive, with a loveable cast of characters, funny events and great relationship dynamics. Also, Holly's workplace was absolute perfection, i want to work somewhere like that.

I felt that Ahern's writing (not plot and characters, just the actual words) was not very good. It lacked prose and vocabulary (i know, coming from the person who just used 'very good') This is not something I would normally pick up on, but the syntax was also rather dull.

Whilst overall an enjoyable and fast paced read, I'm not sure this is a book I would widely recommend. :)

Reaction upon finishing: ok that did NOT end how i wanted it to. What the hell.
(i realise now this is a very negative take on what was a good book; unfortunately i just found the ending very anti-climactic and disappointing.)

I really liked the book a lot but it made me very sad
If you‘re looking for a lighthearted fun book you should put this off your list
The story of Holly and the way she feels touches my heart and I feel so happy for her that she finds her way back to life <3 I also loved  the scenes written from different perscpectives like Barbara or espesially Gerry
The sidecharacters in general have a spot in my heart and I want to have such a connection to the people around me like Holly :)

Finished it but seriously considered not. I guess it’s just not my genre. That said the story was pretty good but I prefer literary fiction and so it was too two-dimensional for me. I did start to enjoy it more as it went along, and I can definitely see why the book is so popular. Maybe if I had read it on vacation I would have enjoyed it more.

I watched this movie ages ago and just came across the book in the shops again. I don't know why I've never read this book. It's more brilliant than the film (of course), but Cecelia has thought of everything. As I read it with a writers critique to it, trying to find inspiration for small character details, I found myself wanting her to do something a certain way to really get inside the characters heads and what do you know? I turned the page and got exactly what I had hoped. I laughed, I cried and I read until hours passed unknowingly. Definitely a great book!

Infelizmente já conhecia a história antes de ler o livro por ter visto o filme, mas não me impediu de apreciar a bela história que é.
Infelizmente, a qualidade da escrita (ou será da tradução?) deixa muito a desejar...

I'm not a big romance person but I enjoyed this book. It really focuses on the characters grieving and healing process. It shows that you can move on after a tragedy and that you will always have love in your heart for each other even if the person can't be with you. Have the Kleenex ready!
