We listened to the audio book of this one. Meh. Right Ho, Jeeves was better. And while there was silliness, there wasn't enough of it to be truly entertaining. I won't say that it's bad; it's just not as good as the other Woodhouses I've read.
I don't know how to review this book, other than to say this:
If you like satire, and you like British society, and you like large-cast comedies, and you like stories about people making fools of themselves, then you'll like this book.
*** Or, if you don't want to read the book--and shame on you, then--there is an awesome television series called Jeeves and Wooster that stars Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie as the title characters.
Re-read, 2017
Jeeves the amazing butler wants to go on a cruise, but rich dummy Bertie Wooster refuses to consider it.
〰
Bertie gets in trouble.
Jeeves saves the day.
Bertie agrees to the cruise.
〰
That's nowhere near the main plot of this book, but that's the easiest storyline to summarize so let's go with it.
〰
PS Jonathan Cecil is SO GOOD reading these books. I won't listen if he's not the reader.

More of a 3.5 I would say. This is the first Wodehouse I have read and I have had several people at work say that they can't believe that I have not read anything by him before. One gentleman in-particular is a massive fan and has recommend other books which he thinks are better than this one, which got me thinking that maybe this is not the best place to start. Its not that I didn't enjoy this book, I found it rather amusing, although not laugh out loud funny, and I did think a few times that it might work better on TV or in a film. I could see what as going to happen before it did and I think this was my problem with it, there was no suspense at all. I will try further books by this author though, it was a light entertaining read.
the classic cow creamer episode! I admit I was not in the mood for the intricate and repetitive shenanigans at the end, but it is very witty, of course.
"This is frightful, Bertie."
"Quite."
"What's to be done?"
"We must just put our trust in a higher power."
"Consult Jeeves, you mean?"
MUCH ADO ABOUT A COW-CREAMER AND A POLICEMAN'S HELMET IN TOTLEY TOWERS.
But, as usual, Jeeves turns out to be a "WOOLLY, BAA-LAMB" and saves the day, true love and Bertie's hide.
HILARIOUS.
Full review to come.

I love Wodehouse’s writing. The reads are fun and engaging. It’s certainly something which can be reread. The antics of Wooster are always a joy.
