I’ve had this book by the side of my bed for almost six months, so I finally forced myself to finish it. I was not really engaged (clearly) and never connected with any of the characters. I also found the format very distracting, the chapters were super short and the POV switched so often. Overall, not my fav.
Actually a 3.5 - I really liked the storyline, but I felt like it was really slow pace and I also felt like Higgins pulled a Karen Kingsbury in the way she ended her chapters.. If you've read Kingsbury you know what I'm talking about. But I was satisfied with the ending and pretty much the second half of the book, once it picked up.
Meh. This book kept me guessing, as the end of each chapter seemed to wrap up a clue, only to have it totally twisted during the next chapter. The writing was awful. The characters were cookie cutter. All in all, it was an entertaining read.
An early morning fire that leaves one person dead and another in a coma begins an interesting story Daddy’s Gone A Hunting is focused around questions and secrets that span many years of the life of a small family. A family business, employees of the business, and persons grieving missing family members have paths that cross in various ways. Tragedies reveal small clues that eventually lead to solving the many puzzles. I enjoyed the character development and the short chapters that left me wanting to read a few more pages! This author always delivers entertaining books.
