Linwood Barclay is a name all thriller lovers will recognise, but believe it or not, this is my first ever book by this author! And to be honest, I’m not sure what has kept me from reading his books all this time, because this one was absolutely brilliant.
I Will Ruin You is a suspenseful, pacy and unputdownable thriller that hooked me in from the start and had me speed-reading until that glorious, unexpected finale. It’s a completely flawless read in my eyes, the plot so wonderfully layered, consistently exciting and always had me thinking. I loved the characters in this book; there are a decent amount to follow but it doesn’t feel difficult to do so, plus they’re all so crucial to how the story unfolds. It’s a book you’ll be constantly thinking about in every waking moment, and I’m pretty sure I won’t stop thinking about it for a while. The definition of a page turner! A must read for fans of crime thrillers.

The first chapter was very engaging and made for a good start to the story. But this was just a hook to get you in and then became irrelevant to the rest of the book.
I enjoyed the ‘who done it’ nature of the book and found I could trust no one. But at times it just seems a bit far fetched.
Although this was a twisty story, there was a lot going on and made it hard for any one twist to be memorable or stand out. Theatre last few final chapter was a complete flop for me I’m afraid. Just don’t believe any of it and was very rushed.
Ok read but forgettable.

Thoroughly enjoyed this. Enough twists and turns to keep me turning the pages but not too many that it got silly. Did lead me to points where I thought I knew how it was going to end and then turned away from it.
